ClickBank Refund Scenario

I have an interesting scenario. I have a ClickBank eBook in one of the water sports niches. Its only been live for about 3 months or so and is doing ok. I'm getting about an 8 - 10% refund request rate.

Looking around, I see this figure isn't crazy bad, but could be better, so to see if over time I can reduce this, I'm playing a bit of a game with myself in trying to add something new each time a refund is requested. Make my product better, etc, etc.

That aside, one thing I have noticed is 99% of my refund requests are coming from academics. (I have only had 1 non-academic refund request) They all have an .edu email address and all seem to be published authors. Most of the refund requests are bordering on rude - clearly academic ego stroking, making themselves feel self important. But the rudeness aside, I am coming to understand academics do not understand info products and want to see a laboriously researched and referenced, thousand page thesis for what they are paying for. Thats basically what they say in the requests anyway.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and cared enough to do something about it?

If so, what steps did you take?

Cheers

Damian

I can't offer specific advice for your refund issues but you could always change the sales page to include a small tag line about not being for acedemia snobs.

"This ebook isn't for posers who live in the University library, this is for people who actually live for water sports!"

I'm sure it could be improved and made to be edgier or funnier or whatever but the idea would be that you might cutoff a few sales from the types who would refund anyway. And if your refund percent is lower, maybe you'll pick up some more affiliates.

Im thinking the niche that you are in has its weight. Im generally operating in the health niche and I get about 3-6% refund rates.

I would suggest you make it clear to them what really is inside of your ebook and tell them the point of view that you are using. If you're posing as an expert, they would really look forward to having some jargons and such.

The first thing you have to improve: Salespage.

    Hope this helps.
