Should I offer reprint rights or master reprint rights, etc.?

I'm just finishing up a couple info products with one being free. I was wondering what the pro's and con's were for offering reprint right licenses, master reprint rights, re-branding rights, etc

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The world's asleep man - it's the early hours of the morning!

If you're giving away the house you might as well give away the contents as well, but bear in mind that if it's a good product and a big name gets hold of the MRR then you'll be caned. Just my 2c.

    Hi there

What is the purpose of your product? To get sales, to build a list, both
By offering reprint rights, you allow others to profit from the sale of your product.

Offer Master Reprint Rights (or Master Resale Rights) and you allow the MRR purchaser
rights to sell resell rights to your product (with me so far) ?

If your book is informative and beneficial to the reader and has the potential for
them to make money themselves by selling it, then offer RR or MRR.

If your book is stuffed with affiliate links that only you benefit from, then chances
are they may not wish to resell it. Again, this depends on quality of the product.
If the content alone is enough for the person to get sales from, they may consider
selling even though it is stuffed with your affiliate links.

If the object for you is to make sales, then allowing Resell rights will get you
traffic (if you do it right) but would not bring you front end sales. So in this
method, you need to make a back end strategy to make sales from people who come via
your book, (or product) even though you did not make the initial sale.

Rebranding your book, would mean that the initial buyer, could either get rebrand
rights upfront, or you could offer it as an upsell.

They then get to rebrand the majority of affiliate links in the book to theirs, then
    resell the book.

If you work this correctly, you will still have links that come back to you, which
gives you the opportunity to make back end sales, and have others build your list for
    you.

If you go with MRR or RR, then make it viral. It must still lead back to you in
someway. This is how you build your list and make back end sales.

If you go with Rebrand Rights, you can make sales on the product, the rebrand and
then still have it lead back to you. The twist you can throw in here, is something like.

At the end of the book, have:

Would you like to rebrand this eBook and sell it to keep 100% commissions?

Click Here to Get Reprint Rights Today.

This last link would be rebrandable by the original affilate who paid to rebrand
They then get commission for someone else rebranding your book, but you get a share
of the sale, and you get another person on your list, but keep your original buyer
very happy at the same time.

Always plan the outcome. What do you want the product to achieve, other than the
    actual initial sale?

    Hope that helps?

If you need something more visual, let me know and I will make a mind map for you
    to follow.

    All the best

    Hi Cash Blasters...

I used to think that way too. It appears at first glance that you lose all your potential gold by letting others sell it. But here is something to consider.

#If your eBook is of that high quality, then others will be fighting to sell it. Your book will spread across the net far faster and wider than you could ever hope to achieve on your own. (kind of like the affiliate syndrome, but more people selling cos they keep 100%).

#By putting a total no brainer deal in the front intro and again at the back of the book, you will build a list on autopilot for years to come due to the reach of your product. Like I said if it is that good, the people reading it will be thirsty for more. This can build your list at turbo pace, and then you can upsell from the moment they are on your list.

Think about this for one moment.
Would you rather (a) Have a total fresh person to your list who does not know you, or what you are an "expert" on. or (b) someone who just read your book, is itching to take action and in need of the next installment of information about this niche from an expert. They just read YOUR book, so if that inspired them, whom would they rather purchase from?

By taking this approach, you can build an empire, not just a good base of sales from your own product that you and maybe 5% of your affiliates have promoted for you.

I understand the hanging on to the rights concept, and from a cash making perspective upfront, provided you can get the reach in sales, then holding onto the rights is ok. But when you consider the potential long term by allowing it out there into the reseller domain, your revenues, list and reputation can grow at a far higher rate.

Now consider this: Just because you sell resale rights, does not mean you cannot continue selling it too

Take Yaniks first online IM book... he still sells it today, and resellers are selling, I believe some even give it away, but who gets the end leads? Yanik.

    Just my take on it
