Anybody make money with a rental list?

Hey there guys. I was just at Barnes and Noble reading "Multiple Streams of Income" and the author was saying that it is possible to make thousands with a rental email list. Anybody try this out and have good success and if so, what company did you use? I know this is not the same thing, but once I bought visitors to my site and was supposed to get 10,000 visitors and it ended up being a scam.

    List rentals can work depending on who you use. However, most good ones are very expensive. I've done research with Arcamax and they are good but the minimum investment is north of $2000

    I've purchased lists in the past and they were complete junk. I've read the book too from Robert Allen and personally believe he put that strategy in to pad out the book.

    The best way to tap into an email list that you don't own yourself is to JV with potential partners that have big lists or pay to advertise in Ezines in your market.
