What do you guys do to make money? Promote amazon affiliates? Clickbank?

Hey guys I'm at that point again where I get flustrated and put down IM for a few months because I can't seem to find my way.

I've been trying out Amazon associates for about 4 months now on my sites and haven't made more than a few bucks.

I'm thinking about trying on Clickbank products but I've heard that's a whole nuther animal all together.

What do you guys do to make money around here?????

    Hi Chris,

I'm not a big fan of clickbank but others will tell you differently.

The key with Amazon is to develop clear, concise review sites that are informative to your visitors without being too salesy! How are you currently promoting Amazon?

Right know it's just re-writing the product descriptions and such that are already on Amazon and using the picture w/ text option for my readers to click on.

I would take the effort you are about to expend on Clickbank and divert that energy into growing your Amazon business. As you say, you are already making money, albeit not as much as you would like, but why start from scratch with Clickbank when you are already up and running with Amazon.

Be like a postage stamp - stick to one thing till you get there.

My advice is to stick with one thing and master it. Sounds like you are doing ok with Amazon. I would stick with it. IM takes a lot more time that people realize. There is no magic formula. Really it just takes hard work.

Stick with it and you may be surprised how quickly that couple bucks with Amazon, turns into a few hundred. The biggest mistake people make is giving up just before they are successful.

I don't think the network or site (like Amazon) you work with matters.
What matters is the product you choose and how you market it. The most important think, besides getting enough traffic, is getting the right traffic and know how to sell them whatever you are selling.
The 3 most important thinks are:
    - Choosing the right keywords (weak competition, decent number of searches, and commercial value).
    - Give to your visitors what they want.
    - Have a site with valuable information.

IMO Amazon is better than clickbank if you promote products with high value. Most amazon sites convert at around 5% where as you would be lucky to get 1%+ with clickbank products.

As mentioned above, if you concentrate on creating a good service for your users its hard to go to far wrong. Amazon and Clickbank really are volume games though, if you have 100 reviews making a buck a day, it won't be long before you have 300 reviews & probably a couple of authority sites.

I agree with what others are saying about mastering what you're doing and really getting it right with Amazon. In my experience, Amazon converts really well. So even if the commissions are lower than Clickbank products, people are way more trusting of Amazon and end up buying a lot of random things.

I have found that putting more effort into longer reviews helps. Instead of just rewriting product descriptions, do a little research into why the product helps to solve a problem they have. Talk about the benefits rather than features and you'll help to sell it without being full on about it.

    Hi my friend!

I think this article is useful for you and others, not of me, just copy. You can refer and decide what to do. Sucess to you!

    Amazon vs ClickBank

In my affiliate marketing venture I am using both Amazon's Associate Program and ClickBank, and I have often wondered which is better. It really boils down to six of one, half a dozen of another.

As far as commissions go, Amazon pays 4% (depending on your setup and the products you are selling, but the maximum is 15%), whereas ClickBank products pay up to 75% in commissions. With that in mind it would make sense that ClickBank has such a large appeal to the affiliate marketer. What we do need to consider are the goods that are being sold together with reputation. Amazon has a good name and so people are more likely to shop there. With ClickBank (although I am not saying they have a bad name, they are quite trusted), the products listed are by individuals who may or may not have the same reputation. When a person goes to a product on ClickBank they are presented with a sales page that often looks exactly like all the other internet marketing sites with promises of this, that and the other. The problem is that some of these products are incredible, whilst others are utter trash. I recently found an eBook online with Master Resale Rights for free. After I read it I didn't consider it to very good at all, but when I did a search to find out what other people are doing with it, I found a typical sales page selling it for $97. Unfortunately you only know what value you are getting after you have paid, and although some of those sales pages are actually selling good quality products and services, people are skeptical by nature and tend to be rather untrustworthy.

But if you are an affiliate and internet marketer, and you have a website, you can also join CB Globe which gives you a fully searchable portal to all 10,000+ goods being sold on ClickBank. Now how does this compare to Amazon? Simple, Amazon provide each Associate ID with up to 100 aStores where you can add individual products of your choice or select an entire category. Again, there is a but. Considering the high reputation of Amazon.com, what is the likelihood of people clicking through to your aStore before going directly to Amazon.com itself?

So which is better? Neither. They both have their pros and cons and success all depends on how well you play the game.

Getting more traffic is how you make more money generally. Are you not making much because the affiliate programs are no good or because not enough people see your content?

Currently I am doing 3 things to make my passive income. I have a niche site (popular one) that drives 350 < traffic a day. Currently using it to earn adsense and Clickbank affiliate.

Just started writing for Hubpages to earn adsense $$. Their ebay and amazon affiliates are bonuses. I also include Clickbank products in the articles, but they are bonus to me.

Lastly, I am creating products to be sold through Clickbanks. I don't want to be just an affiliate, but a product creator.

So Clickbank and adsense and my own products is how i earn my dough!!!

Please excuse such a contentious note () but this is a terrible way to try to sell Clickbank products, and unsurprisingly it's characteristic of the many beginning affiliate marketers who end up disillusioned with Clickbank and dropping out and then announcing that "Clickbank products don't sell well". It deprives you of both the two main essentials of making a living as a Clickbank affiliate: (i) the ability to pre-sell effectively through a review-site, personal blog or niche authority site, and (ii) the ability to build a list.

I completely endorse all the information above in Dlotus205's post.

I try not to put all my eggs in one basket. I do a little bit of everything from marketing my own products to affiliate marketing spread across several different affiliate networks to email marketing, etc.

When something starts performing better than others I will spend more time on it but I try and balance it all out just in case an income stream dries up. I don't want to overly rely on any one thing.

Kudo's for trying, but you're missing something here:

You just said you made a few bucks with Amazon, and you want
to jump ship to a different way of making money online?

It's clear there is potential to make a great income from Amazon,
so since that's where you STARTED, that's where you should cont.

Not something I would do, because I've done it so many times and
failed at it. When I STUCK with something I KNEW worked (with
others), I kept at it until I was making the desired income I wanted...

and than you can go for something else like clickbank.

I am not with Amazon yet but plan to be within the next couple weeks because I have a bunch of sites ready to sell well during Christmas shopping. (Can't wait! )

I read that promoting physical products is different than info products on Clickbank because for one thing you do not need an extensive review. In fact it seems to me like all you need is some bulet points and a picture of the product you are selling. Also do not promote products less than $150. This is just what I have gathered from reading threads on here.

But after really succeeding and selling a deal of products they will be more generous with their commission rate.

Clickbank is different though. I might hear this all the time but you really should start off in your passion. Seriously set up some sites and articles around a topic you know about or are at least interested in.

At first for me it was gaming. I did not ever really get into it for a long time but then once I did I had success and my sites converted probably because the content was great and people felt comfortable buying through me.

Think of a passion. Clickbank has all sorts of info products like...
      • piano lessons
      • guitar lessons
      • sporting products
      • dating products
      • cooking products
      • carpentry products
If you cannot find something you would like to promote then create a product yourself.

    Big Fella,

I do very nice outta Adsense but decided 3 months ago to try Amazon after reading a post by Chris Guthrie. I have made considerable money those 3 months and each month higher than the last.

    Here is what you do.

    1. Read evey post by Chris Guthrie
    2. Read every post by Sojourn
    3. Read every post by PaulaC

Throughout the posts they tell us exactly how to make consistent money thru Amazon. Problem is, we read them and sorta, kinda do what they say. Do it to the letter and you will make money. I know, I am proof of that.

Most people don't make money around here.

Some just say they make money and then try to sell you a report on how to make money.

A handful really do make money, but it is an unwritten law of the forums to not publicly discuss methods until after they are in a profit decline.

In an industry with an extremely high level of competition, rewriting Amazon product descriptions doesn't cut it. Anyone can do that, so expect it to have a relatively low upside. The higher the bar of entry, the higher the upside.

Before you focus on an affiliate network you should first find a market where people are able and willing to spend money. What is it that people really want right now? Once you find a profitable market then look for a product within that market that you could sell.

Once you have a product to sell for ways to add value or educate people about things related to your product or niche.

I personally don't understand why so many people get stuck in one box for making money.

Why just use Clickbank, or just use Amazon Associates. I personally use and test multiple streams of income for my websites, it not only earns me more money but gives readers more choice and diversity.

Don't work from a specific affiliate program and backtrack to your audience. Work from you target audience, figure out what they want, how you can best serve them and what products/services/ads they will be interested in and move from there.
