How many articles to write per niche?

I try to write at least five different articles submitted to different article directories. But if you are getting the results you want with just one article then stick to that. I find I need the extra back links myself.

...as many as you possibly can. One wont cut it. 5-10 wont even cut it. Fresh content is vital to seo.

ok thanks guys.

Btw, its not considered spamming if I write 20+ articles on...lets say make money online, and post all the same articles to different article sites right? Considering all the 20 articles are unique.

you could write 1 a day or 5 a day as long as each one is diffrent. And, even with those articles you can spin them as well. Start of slow then build up as I seen to many build up and drop out from burn out!

Spamming is when you send things to people unsolicited when it's unwanted. The article directories want your content, but take note of what Nicole said:

Here are the relevant clauses from EZA's editorial guidelines:

My interpretation of the last one is that you can't submit the same article to one directory over and over. There are different opinions out there though.

Mark's right...5-10 won't make a dent. The goal is to get your articles out there, with your name and link attached, so that people realize you're an expert in your niche and head to your site. Article marketing can provide some great benefits, but it takes some time to build up momentum.

One piece of advice I would give you, though - don't publish too many articles at once. It has nothing to do with spamming, but I've seen that if I publish too many at once, I tend to "compete with myself" in a way. Personally, I'll publish a couple of articles a week (about every other day or so), then bookmark and Tweet them all to get the word out.

And, in the meantime, don't neglect your own site! Updating your site with fresh new content is a great way to move up the ranks. However, I always suggest putting different articles on your site than the ones you're publishing elsewhere. It has nothing to do with duplicate content, though. But, if I see one of your articles on a directory somewhere and like it enough to visit your site, I don't want to see the same exact article. Offer your visitors something new, or else they won't feel the need to stick around.

Oh man, 1 or 5...no way, not enough. Write as many as you can; you want to be seen as an expert eventually. As advised earlier, don't submit them all at once though. Spread them out.

2. Determine competition level of each keyword for Google first page rank. If too high, move on.

3. Write 20-30 articles PER KEYWORD (brutal) as quickly as you can. People will say you need less, but if your niche is even a LITTLE competitive at all, you will need as many as you can throw at it.

4. Quit article marketing after first three days.

5. Come back to WF trying to find a solution because you still want to be an internet marketer, quickly discover "outsourcing" and "Warrior for Hire" sections.

6. Get back into article marketing using new outsourcing resources to generate hundreds of articles a month.

Keep in mind also that you shouldn't stop your SEO efforts if and when you hit #1. Keep submitting new articles, or whatever it is you're doing, on a regular basis for as long as you can. If you don't, your competition will and they could easily out rank you.

I think it depends on the niche and on your keywords and competition. But you will definitely need more than 1 to 5 articles.

You know there are many courses and ebooks out there stating if you get a great keyword you can easily set up a site and have it ranked #1 in google without any or with minimal backlinking. Even using the keyword criteria they suggest I am yet to see that happen (I'm not saying it's not possible, just saying it has never happened to me). I have always had to have a good article marketing campaign to get my sites ranking on page 1 of Google.

Certainly write a few and submit them to directories, keep an eye on your site and if it is ranking where you want it to rank then move on to another keyword and try to rank well for other keywords.

Keep writing. One or five articles isn't enough. You'll know you're doing well enough when you start getting traffic for the keywords you target. That doesn't mean you can stop forever; new competition comes all the time, and search engines like fresh content.

Good advice, Stephanie. I like to write articles that focus on a certain niche many times. I target long tail keywords in the title of my article. Sometimes I write two versions of an article at one time. It is best to write as many articles as you can on your niche subject. I also agree that you should not submit all your articles at once.

As many as it takes to rank number 1. In my experience it usually happens after I have 5-10 articles on my blog and then around 20 but this is more than just the top article directories.

Some suggestions:-

1. Do a keyword research on the articles you are writing for that particular niche you are working on?

2. Write about 10 to 15 articles and submit to different article directories every month.

3. Once you have started to gain some profits, you may wish to begin to re-invest these profits and outsource these article writers.

The amount of articles to write really depends upon the niche. There might be a lot of topic and keywords to cover in some niches, and not so many in others.

Also you didn't state what you plan on doing with these articles. Are you planning on submitting them to your site, article directories, or both. I hope both.

My suggestion would be to put them on your site first and after they are indexed submit them to article directories such as eza.

The number doesn't really matter. What's important is you write FRESH, UNDUPLICATED and HIGH QUALITY articles. Google know s whether your article is a republished, a duplicate or just a blah-blah article. Be diligent enough. More than the content, we should also go after the links. But try to write at least 3 or 5 a day. That would be a good start.

Honestly, a minimum of 25 for the launch of a new site. My goal is closer to 100 to establish the site as an authority. I usually post the article on my site first and use social bookmarking to get backlinks as well as using articles for the same purpose.

My sites are typically set up as follows:

www.mysite.com/index.html <-- Lead Capture Page
mymainkeyword.mysite.com/ <-- CMS-based blog-type site (Wordpress/Joomla)

In the resource box of my articles I'll put two links, one to the lead capture site and one to the WP site. The WP site has an opt-in box on the right column and I try to catch as many of my visitors as possible.

I want to verify we are all on the same page with terminology.

Market = Weight Loss
Niche = Weight Loss for Men Over 40
Keyword Phrase = Jogging for weight loss for men over 40
(Keyword phrases are often referred to as sub-niches or micro-niches, also.)

While you might write only one article for the keyword phrase hopefully you have found dozens, if not hundreds, of potential phrases within your niche and market.

When I research I will try to come up with 30 to 50 phrases within a niche I want to target and then I start writing one article for each of those phrases. After I finish the list once I often go back and run through the list one more time with a different twist.

My suggestion is write as many as you can. You know why, a certain niche still be divided in several smaller niche. So you can write articles to every specific topics about your niche.

I have no hard an fast rules about amount of articles as I write for clicks not backlinks.

Everytime I uncover another keyword that matches my niche I write more articles simple as that.

How long is a piece of string?

The answer to your question is ... "It depends"

What is your objective? How competitive is your chosen niche?

Members suggesting that you simply "write as many articles as you can" is without sounding impolite, a bit misleading.

The bottom line is this....

If youre building a simple thin content site, with very low competition, you most likely wont have to write any. If you're entering into a highly competitive market and you're considering building an authority site, be prepared to write dozens, if not hundreds of articles.

Unfortunately, there is no "magic number" it really depends on your chosen niche, and your desired goals.

I would say the more you can the better. You can also take existing articles and recycle them so their different. There are people who provide that service which you can find on a place like elance or odesk.
