How to REALLY make money blogging?

2 days ago I created my blog blogging about a niche. Im making about 4-5 200 word posts daily for the past 2 days. What's Next? Should I throw mass backlinks at it? A link wheel? Then just ad adsense?

I would really appreciate any tips.
Thanks!
I love this forum ^_^

Don't throw, as you say, mass backlinks at your blog, you could get penalized by google. You want to build them up at a moderate pace.

In my opinion, 200 words aren't enough to really get to the meat of any subject. You want the people who read your blog to walk away a little smarter than before they came. Instead of 4-5 200wrd posts, try doing just one or two 4-600+wrd post(s) that really teaches them something.

You've only been at it two days, what you're doing takes time, if someone told you that you can put up a blog/website and become rich overnight...they lied. But that's not to say with some hard work, you can't be a success.

Yeah ... I wouldn't throw massive backlinks at it. I would build quality backlinks naturally through social bookmarking, article marketing, etc.

Unless you have high traffic, Adsense is likely to give you pennies. Go for an affiliate product that you really believe in ... something of value. Or create an ebook to give away and build a list.

First, I would certainly plan on building a list with your blog. PopUp Domination is extremely popular these days for that purpose, but make sure you also have at least one clearly visible opt-in form on the blog itself.

Then, think about how you are going to get traffic. The bulk of your traffic will probably come from search engines, and the bulk of that from Google. What you need to do is learn the basics of keyword research. For example, use Google's keyword tool to find keywords that are relevant to your niche and get at least dozens of searches per day. Aim for those with little competition, where possible.

Of course, keep writing valuable posts to your blog on any relevant subject, but keyword research will allow you to find topics that will bring you more traffic and new people from the search engines.

Then, you will definitely want to build backlinks to your posts, as well as your main page. Many people here will tell you "don't build mass backlinks", but that's a far too general statement. If you have a non-authority site and you build a ton of low quality backlinks in a short period of time, Google may very well determine that to be spam. As long as you don't do something stupid like that, you won't be penalized.

Stick to high-quality backlinks, from relevant sources to start off. Get a tool called Seo-Quake to determine the PR of the pages you are looking at. You can buy backlinks like "Paul's Quality Backlinks" or "Angela's Backlinks" for really cheap, or you can find methods of searching them out yourself on this very forum (join the war room).

Write blog posts of 300-400 words or so. Take your post, turn it into an article and submit it to Ezine Articles. Maybe rewrite it and submit it to a couple other big article directories. You can also re-purpose it as a press release, and numerous other things once you get into an efficient schedule.

SEO traffic comes from a few very important things. On-site optimization, which is pretty simple and Wordpress does most of it for you already. Off-site optimization, which is essentially how many links point back to you, and who is linking to you. And then you just need to worry about your keywords and content, so Google knows exactly which search terms your pages should rank for.

      Thanks for the great responses.
brendanfinn WHat do you mean by making a list?
If Im blogging about golfing, do you mean to compile a list titled:
Top 10 Golfers of All Time

and then list the top 10?
And how do you actually monetize off this?
      Please explain
      Thanks

  • dont try to make money via adsense, waste of time unless you have MASSIVE traffic...instead aim to make money selling your own products or as an affiliate...Dom

One of a blog's biggest advantages, other than the content management aspects of most blogging platforms, is that blogs are excellent relationship builders. You can easily add content, sure, and delivering tremendous value to your visitors is always key. The beauty of your blog though, is that it allows you to easily build a close relationship with your visitors.

From that relationship, you'll get trust, one of the most prized things in any business. Once you have a solid base of trusted subscribers and regular visitors, you have a viable business. Make sure that you have some sort of monetization from the beginning, lest your regulars become offended and think you sold out when you start recommending / reviewing products or putting ads on your site.

    Rocksteady,
I think you will be best served to search and read the different posts in the forum here. Listbuilding is one of the fundamental practices involved in marketing, especially online. Market and keyword research is as well... Golf is a competitive niche and just making a couple of 200 word blog posts a day and some random linking isnt going to work. Its good that you are taking action. Now its time to learn the business and start working smarter.

Have you read the free ebook about autoblogging at bloggerhigh.com?

The previous poster's comments about your uphill struggle are valid. Not trying to be negative, just trying to help you see a slightly wider perspective on the process. You're up against some serious competition nowadays.

I hear this all the time on the forum and out in public. How much truth is there really in this statement?

In the "real world" there are new insurance agencies opened up everyday. Talk about some serious competition, but somehow there are new people starting to make 6 figures per year.

In the "real world" there are new real estate agents hired everyday, another seriously competitive market. Somehow a few new agents make it to six figures or seven figures during their first year or two.

What about auto sales? You have new people go into car sales everyday, some make tremendous incomes while others fall flat on their faces. The competition is the same for both of them.

I could keep going, but the point is this, competition is not always a bad thing, it helps you define a market which has money being spent in it.

The only thing it should tell you is you need to get busy, work smart, work fast, stay on task, and out perform the other guys around you. Be creative. Might sound hard, but as we all know, a very high percentage of the "competitors" really are not interested in working.

(If you do not believe that last statement, go sit in a few insurance offices or real estate offices. You will see a couple people working their tails off, and the rest twiddling their thumbs. Same thing online.)

This is so true! Now im thinking. Cant I just log on to Clickbank and find an ebook in my niche.. then go to a forum of my niche. promote the ebook there and start earning some instant cash?

But would I have to make a whole site for my ebook to promote it and put the pay now button and etc? Is it always a MUST to register a domain for each sales page?

I guess it all depends if you want to setup a temporary or a permanent shop.

Good post. I believe that if you provide value and are consistent, you can grab a piece of the pie regardless of the niche. The key things are to provide something of real value and market yourself. Nobody grabs ALL of the customers. Some niches are just easier than others and offer more low-hanging fruit.

Just be consistent and track everything you do to see if it is effective.
