Another laid off newbie $

I am a newbie since I got laid off 2 years ago from the Construction business. I live in Central Fl. and my building niche was Apartment complexes comprising of 300 +or- units. So anyhow I decided to try making money on the Internet like 8 million other people. I chose "How to Make money on the Internet" as my niche and found a good affiliate. My $ is I want to market by ppc but do not want to shot gun emails. I guess if I could get the email of people laid off I could get rich. Ha Ha! So I need a service that is reputable for ppc. I checked google and they are thousands of them. So does any body have any ideas. My wife IronPants is making me do house work until I get a Job.

You need to refine your niche. That is still pretty broad and very competitive.

If you're a newbie who still hasn't "made it" then perhaps "how to make money on the internet" isn't the best niche for you to be in. This niche is huge, and there are many experienced people showing people how to make money. If you don't have the experience, what is it that you're offering to make people stick around? I do believe there's value in documenting your own progress, but you may struggle to make much money off this.

I have to agree with Ruth P, it's better to start off with a niche that isn't so competitive. Unless you are a genius, your probably not going to make a whole lot of money (or any). I would do some research on Google and find a niche that has a good potential for making money, but one that is not so bogged down with competitors. Good luck to you.

Hang on, your niche was building appartments yet you want to monitise 'making money off the internet?'

Dude, you have a niche you know lots about - appartments are everywhere, why not think of things you can advise people on? Fix certain problems with appartments, how to get appartments cheaper, how to make your appartment look nicer cheaply etc.

Not only do you know something about this, but it is a little unique and may even get you noticed by people who can offer you more work.

If you want my serious advice get a mentor and follow some advice. You obviously have drive and brains, just a little direction and you will get success. Give me a shout if you feel I can help

I would advise you to do lots of reading of the site here and get a basic understanding of internet marketing before trying to spend money on PPC. You can blow your savings quickly. I'm certainly not against PPC, I spend about $120k a month on it. But you have to learn what you are doing first.

I tend to agree with VentureToTheTop - why not use your formidable experience in the construction niche to set-up something you have first hand knowledge of.

Something related to real estate perhaps - like foreclosures or auctions for example.

in addition to all of that /\ running make money on line and ppc are like oil and water and probably not really going to float to many boats with that general line, it may work with a lot of tinkering to keep G happy, but blowing marbles up a hill with a straw will probably be easier.

    Mblount,

You can create some great informational products/courses based on your knowledge. Start making a personal inventory of everything in your knowledge base. I bet you could come up with lots of products/courses....and not just in real estate/construction.

Go get, beg, borrow or steal Jay Abraham's "Your Secret Wealth" audio series....It will give you some great actionable ideas based on your situation - I'm not kidding!

Yall are probably right I am 55 and been building Apartments all over the Country since I was 18. I started from digging ditches to a V.P. of a major Developer in Orlando so I must admit I know the Biz inside and out. I had to lay off almost 50 people and close this satellite office down. Up until now I have never drawn a n unemployment check. Unfortunately there aint much to write about Apts. so I will find a better Niche. I know one "How could we ever had elected Obameeeee into the Whitehouse"

Could you by chance write about how to perform basic construction work around the house? Building a shed, repairing a roof, the type of materials needed, some basic blueprints to get started?

Your offline niche is apartment complex construction, the very basic fundamentals of apartment construction could also be used in shed construction, housing contstruction, wood work, metal work, etc..

        That is one idea.

Another: Do you know how to design blueprints for the construction workers? I know when my father and I ran and worked for a contstruction company while in Alamogordo one of our jobs was to provide blueprints for the clients and site managers. Why not offer freelance blueprint creation?

What about the even basic fundamentals of apartment and housing maintence? I realize the electrical work as well as plumbing and concrete foundation would be sent off to experts in that field, however how about repairing holes in walls, laying sheet rock for expansion, etc..

Think hard, you can find enough information from your 33 years of construction work to layout the foundation of a very lucrative im field for yourself.

    mblount,

Sorry about the lay off, but you'll be fine. As a construction worker, I imagine you have a lot of knowledge about working with your hands. Try creating products about doing that (getting started with construction, etc).

Worst possible choice of niches for newbies, but they always seem drawn to it. Very competitive niche full of people who already know how to make money.

There are many low competition niches that you could make a lot of money from that have nothing to do with make money online.

First off - congrats on joining the War Room. Read as much as possible there. Don't be suckered into buying a bunch of useless WSO's.

And don't pick a niche you have no experience in, you'll quickly become burned out.

      Best of luck!

Don't go for the "make money online" niche - everybody does that and most people start/end on that. They start/end on that niche because it doesn't work for most people because it's too saturated.

For the fairly inexperienced, try a local city blog. I even give out a free ebook that will give you an entire business plan. It doesn't use PPC at all - all free, targeted traffic and a lot of it. I think PPC is fairly overrun these days too and hard to make money unless you have a very fine tuned niche to promote.

If you have the experience of building yourself from shovel jockey to VP of a big construction company, there is a lot of valuable knowledge locked in that mush holding your ears apart.

Just for a start, you know about construction techniques, project management, construction finance, working with subcontractors, maybe being a subcontractor, purchasing, logistics, dealing with local government officials, and more.

There may not be a huge market for someone who builds large apartment complexes, but if the signs in my neighborhood are any indicator, there may be a huge market of speculators who need to turn over projects fast and cheap.

Who might benefit from smaller chunks of what you know, and value it enough to pay you for those chunks? That's a niche, and much more likely to profit you than peddling some MMO course or ebook as an affiliate.

I know there are condo association managers who would love to learn how to deal with local officials more effectively. Or how to deal with subcontractors for basic services like landscaping.

Hotel franchisees who might look very favorably on a manual that teaches them how to refresh their rooms without spending a fortune.

Regardless of your opinion on Obama, money is still changing hands, and it's up to you to use what you have to get your piece of it...

I would never venture into that niche, it is too much work for very little reward.

I would suggest you look around your house for items and search for low brand product e.g. a toaster and find a brand online that is unknown. This brand will have low compeition but high enough searches monthly on Google.

Good luck, shoot any questions my way or to the forum and everyone will help you get on your feat.

    Regards
    Owen

    Thanks everybody
I must admit I came very close to writing a book on Apt. construction and wrote down ideas every month. BTW I started out honestly digging ditches and slowly moved into a V.P. Position. So I was an Asst. Supt.,Supt.,Project Manager, Sr.Project Manager then V.P. S nobody that worked for me had that much experience.
