Question about Squidoo & HubPages

I'm running a niche based blog and now planning to market my website through Squidoo Lens & Hubpages. Am I supposed to write a couple of new articles for squidoo lens & Hubpages?

I'd also like to know how effective they are..

I find Squidoo very effective, Hubpages less so. BUT this is niche-dependent and your experience may be different.

I'm not sure what your original question means: both SQ and HP want you to use original content on your lenses and hubs, so yes, you'll need to write an article for each. They are not like article directories though, where you just submit the article - they are more web page builders, where you can include all kinds of different things as well as your article text.

    Try these "get started" resources:

@ Kevin: Thanks for your reply

Well, my experience is NIL. I'm entirely a newbie and trying to get visits by submitting to search engines, stumbleupon and so on.

I read SQ & HP could are very effective for traffic and taking chances. I already have a few articles posted in my site. Now, I'd like to know whether I can use any of them to post SQ & HP or should I write a new ones for HP & SQ.

Before doing anything on Squidoo, you should read this:

    SquidDon't!

These are banned topics and you won't be allowed to create any lenses about them.

I'm pretty sure Hubpages requires unique content. I don't think that's the case with Squidoo, I could be wrong. But why not write a pre-sale page anyways?

HubPages is kicking back hubs more frequently now - they just restricted their guidelines so read everything carefully before you go that route. As long as you aren't on the "disallowed" list for Squidoo then that's a good route. I also like Gather - I can upload the document with links intact.

As far as I know, Hubpages requires original content. Like other sites, your success will depend on your niche and how well your content is written. I would suggest that you try out some other sites, in addition to Hubpages and Squidoo. The more places you can get your name and your link, the better.

Personally, I would write new content for these sites (or at least rewrite what you've got on your own site) - for a couple of reasons.

First, you don't want to drive people to your site, then have the same exact articles on there. If you present them with something new, they're more likely to stick around and see what else you have to offer - instead of thinking, "oh, never mind, I just read this."

Second, you're running a blog, and that style of writing is a little different than articles. Blogs can get away with being shorter, more informal, and more personal than traditional articles. Your best bet may be to tweak your blog posts so that they are a bit more formal, before you publish them to article directories.

I've always gone with unique/spun content for squidoo and hubpages, although I'm not certain what the actual requirements are. Another two site I use for articles is docstoc and scribd, they get indexed fast.

Squidoo has been tightening up their act about content - they now ask for it to be unique. In fact they want it to be written by *you*, not even articles you've bought, though of course there's no way for them to tell.

@ all: Thanks for spending your time responding to my queries. Unfortunately, my niche doesn't fit to post a squidoo lens. They reject all the categories under Weight Loss. How sad!

They are both effective for providing quality links for your website. In hubpages though, you need to have a specific score to automatically turn your links to dofollow.

Squidoo is very helpful to get quality back links. Hubpages are also good but only if you have 75 points on your profile, because before this hubpages links are nofollow. You can write on triond.com and buzzle.com. They are also good for back links

If you want to promote your websites through the squidoo or hubpages then squidoo is better option to choose one. As for as hubpages concern it's required original content and depends as well your content is written. so i will suggest to squidoo, you can create a squidoo Lens like this:squidoo.com/custom-software-web-development-services
