Does anybody else think that out of all of the major social media networks Twitter will be the first

Being in the internet marketing industry, I have a pretty extensive knowledge on the subject and a wide of array of tools I use for my internet marketing arsenal. The thing is, I was extremely reluctant to get a Twitter account for my works because I think micro blogging networks are almost useless. Although I do agree micro blogging sites like Twitter can greatly help businesses or advance a celebrity's agenda, I think it will be the first thing to fizzle out of all the social media avenues out there. Any thoughts?

I have often wondered that and then it seems like Twitter picks up more steam. I think they are changing things on the user end and giving the new dashboard is making things more appealing.

I think it will probably be around for a while... In my opinion anyway.

I think you will find a lot of people will disagree with you when you say that microblogging sites are useless. If you just look at how many time Twitter is in the news for being the way some major news story broke by some random person being there and tweeting either what happened or tweeting a picture live of it.

A lot of people, businesses, and organizations or still just getting around to using it for keeping people updated and it is growing in that regard. I know they are behind the times, but the college I coach soccer for, just this season started to tweet all the scores and updates for the games to all the followers which also posts it on Facebook as well. It is being use as a instant way to get the scores out to fans and families that can't be there to watch.

You may feel it is useless, and maybe it is to some degree as it was originally intended, but it has grown and addapted into a much more usefull tool for instant information to the real world.

Twitter has over 100 million registered users. It's not going anywhere soon.
