How would you monetize this list?

Hi guys --

Wondering -- how would you monetize this list?

I have a list for this one particular site/product I wanted to do some testing with. (Decent traffic, so decent (small) list to do testing with). I offered a coupon on if they made a purchase. Thing is, very few people have actually used the coupon, and I just have this list.

I have tried different coupon pricing, and in fact motivating them (i.e., saying -- 'noticed you haven't purchased yet, how about a bigger coupon'?).

Given the fact that now I have a list, how would you promote to them?

I'm thinking I may need to do some cross promotion, since for whatever reason they don't seem as responsive as I would have hoped.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks!

Its hard to say the best way to monetize since I don't know the list, but I would start by providing them with quality content that they can use for free. This will get their attention and build trust - then hit them with offers that are relevant to what they need.

      Yes... I thought of that...

But not really quite sure how to do that.

Basically the traffic I have coming to the site is highly targeted, and it's for a very specific solution. I wasn't sure if having articles describing how to use the software would be good -- because that might seem like a sales pitch. And there don't seem to be any 'related' articles to the software app -- again, unless its more like a tutorial (which then is kind of like a sales pitch).

      Any other ideas?

Maybe not articles DESCRIBING the product, but how about articles REVIEWING the product? Know what I mean? Make sure you put in some of the flaws (but not huge flaws of course) to build up trust with your readers. If you're willing to point out little negative things that builds up trust because they think you're unbiased.

So you want to monetize the list, but you don't want to sell to it?

OK, I'm guessing what you mean is you don't want to be too "in their face" about it.

Maybe articles on using the software aren't the right thing as you suggest, but perhaps:

        1) Descriptions/videos of other ways you've tried (or others have tried) to solve the problem

        2) a short video of YOU using the software to solve your problem (and theirs) - leading of course to the recommendation

        3) insider tips on using the software - take Open Office or Microsoft Office - there's so much stuff buried in there, most folks will NEVER see. Make a list of 5 things many people don't know about and show them related to your software product

        Hope it helps!

Information on how to use a product doesn't have to be a sales pitch. You could also review competing software products.

Why not send them a survey and let them tell you what they want. You can use surveymonkey for free.
