That I have seen is Google seems to like to 'suggest' searches that include the word 'sale', 'reduced price', 'coupon', 'coupons', etc. near the end of the string. Almost every search I do has a variation of some money saving indicator suggested by Google... who wouldn't click that? 'Dog training book' or 'dog training book sale'? 'Domains for sale' or 'domains for sale at reduced price'? 'Lose weight' or 'lose weight cheaper'? Search strings that have one of those words at the end, seem to get clicked on more than before when a customer had not thought if there was a coupon or sale available that could save them some money. No matter what you are selling, having a coupon or a reduced price (even if have to raise the 'retail' price), seems a great way to increase your CTR organically or paid with Google traffic.
(Instead of the long tail getting chopped, as 1st thought, I am seeing LONGER tail search strings clicked.)
Just a thought
