Internet Marketing on a Mac

I always get excited when I find some really cool software and I want to buy it and then it says "made for Windows Vista, 7, XP" etc.

I'm on a Mac and I do run Parallels but it's not really that stable and I don't like to run it. So are there any good submission, link building, other software that can be used for the Mac to help in my promotions? I already have Market Samurai.

    In general, on a Mac (or Linux) what you're looking for is the various browser-based services rather than client software you run on your machine.

    Oh, and since I used to work at Microsoft, I'm now obligated to point at you and laugh.

      And since I'm part of the Apple Cult, I'm supposed to knock on your door and hand you one of our pamphlets to try and convert you.

      Actually the truth is, I had PC computers since 1994 when I bought my first Compaq. I made the switch to Mac last year and I can't really say either way which one is better. PCs are better for some things and Macs are better for other things. It's better to "swing both ways" I guess.

        Why? Microsoft already makes more Mac software than anyone else. We like Macs. Just in that vaguely patronising and self-involved way.

          There a quite a few tools out there that are built on the Adobe Air platform - marketsamurai, ryan deiss' recent "cherry picker" software. These along with web-based apps really are the future for us Mac users...

            Adobe Air definitely has one foot in the future of computing...

      Just fine! See, it's made for Windows. Just like all the viruses out there. And all the games. And all the office applications. And all the utilities. And... and... and...

    VMWare has always been better than Parallels for me - uses a lot less resources.

    There's not really any link building tools that I am aware of to be honest.

      The software that I use the most is Market Samurai and a ton of online services, but yeah, I agree is annoying some of the best tools for IM, like The Best Spinner or Speed PPC are only for Windows...

      I'm using VirtualBox for virtualization because it's free, did anyone compared its performance against Parallels or VMWare?

        Use VMWare. Never a problem. Also, save your files in the MAC HD, not the virtual machine (just in case).

        Parallels is indeed terrible.

    Definitely Market Samurai since it runs on Adobe AIR (which is Mac & Linux friendly - and recently DROID Friendly as well). Who knows, maybe we'll see a Droid version of Market Samurai one of these days (I would love that!!). But Market Samurai is great for keyword research, finding niches, and also basic linkbuilding tasks.

    * Eudora for email
    * OpenOffice for spreadsheet and word processing (unless you prefer TextEdit, of course)
    * CaptureMe for screen capture
    * EmailMergex for email merging and personalization
    * Jumpcut for multi-clipboard copy-and-paste
    * Market Samurai for keyword research
    * SEO Power Suite for SEO activities (I'm still testing this)
    * TextWrangler for text editing and HTML hand-coding (I *love* this software!)
    * Transmit for FTP
    * TweetDeck for Twitter

    Hope this helps. If you need specific recommendations for any
    particular task, please ask and I'll try and help. Been using
    a Mac exclusively for all my work since 2000, though I'm 'forced'
    to resort to my wife's Vaio for some PC-specific tasks on the
    rare occasion

    All success

    I'm surprised that you find Parallels unstable. I have tested it extensively on a friend's computer, and it ran everything I threw at it without a hitch. Are you running Parallels 6? Various reviews I've read seem to point to Fusion (its VMware counterpart) being more stable and supremely crash-proof.

    That's what I am not buying a Mac. Because it doesn't support many good softwares.
    i think it is only good for watching movies and listening music.

    A computer is a tool. If half of what helps you work better / faster is only available for Windows, buy the tool and make your working life easier. You don't have to like the tool, just use it when it saves you time or does something better than what's available on the Mac. Use it when it makes sense, turn it off when you don't need it. The whole PC / Mac argument is madness when it comes to work flow.
