Would it be profitable to create niche video sites???

Hello all. I would like to start creating niche video websites for people or create websites to sell somewhere like on flippa.

These sites would be video sites (kind of like youtube) but based more around specific niches so that they rank well in search engines for keywords in that niche.

My question is though, is this something people (would) or do spend money on? Any help, guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated.

To me a niche site is a niche site whether its video, audio or text. Video is huge and and in my opinion more and more people prefer to get content via video then reading it.

I think its a good idea and I am sure they would sell. Especially if you get some good ranking for them.

Definitely! Videos are great! People love them. And you can still add some keyword targeted content below videos, juggle with different types of content.

Good luck with that, it's a good idea!

I think it can be a great idea. You will want to do your optimization correctly but other than that i think you should go for it.

It's good to have a video followed by a text version of the video. Remember, Google finds text-based content. But in general, video is very effective for delivering content. But in my opinion, it's even better to have best of both worlds. Video AND text.

Yup, I agree with this. Covers both aspects.

Just curious where the pay off would be with these sites.

I'm thinking the pay off would be with adsence, since google apparently loves video sites (yes and they love wordpress sites as well ) I plan to drive lots of traffic to these sites. Also you could include pop-up ads and such on the sites with things like clickbank, amazon, commission junction products as well to make even more streams of income.

Yeah, I've seen some places do full transcripts for each video underneath. Whenever I see that though I end up skimming the transcript without watching the video, and not really getting the full benefit of the content.

A middle ground I like much better, is when people just have abbreviated "show notes" with links to anything mentioned in the show (but not going into the context in which it was spoken so you still end up watching the vid).

Keep in mind you can also do self-hosted videos (which may be more appealing to the Flippa set) and still submit a video sitemap to Google so that your videos get indexed and ranked (often fairly well.)
