I think not, Mark. This information isn't released by Clickbank.

There are various services/sites which claim to be able to work it out from other information that is released by Clickbank. Call me a skepchick but I don't believe a word of it, because the reality is that they have no information you and I don't have. They claim to be able to work it out just like they claim to be able to work out sales numbers (also not released!) and I know for a fact that that one's nonsense.

All that's really "known" is that if a product's refund-rate is "too high", and not just one from a tiny number of affiliates, Clickbank withdraws it from sale fairly promptly.

Didn't know Clickbank withdrew products because of a too high refund rate, first time I've heard that.

I know people who have around a 30% refund rate and their products have been on a while, although a Google search confirms you are correct - but no mention of the exact figure to trigger it.

Well, they say they do; and I did have a client over a year ago whose product was withdrawn because it had a very high refund-rate (quite widely among different affiliates, I think) ... I don't know the figure, though. There may not even necessarily be a "fixed figure" because for a low-gravity product Clickbank might be willing to give it a bit longer and see whether it's just a couple of "bad affiliates" or really the product itself? Just theorising, here, but that's what I'd wonder, in their position ...

It's really easy for people to mislead themselves (and others!) about this subject.

          The reality is that:-

          (a) you cannot reliably estimate a product's refund-rate (look at it this way: if Harvey "Mr Clickbank" Segal says he can't, it's clearly pretty naive for us to imagine that we can, isn't it?!)

          (b) (this is the point many people miss) even if you could, it would itself be very misleading information anyway (partly because some products, especially high-gravity ones, tend to attract affiliates many of whom who don't really know what they're doing anyway and are typically following a formula/pattern that doesn't actually work too well, and an individual affiliate's refund-rate for a product depends almost entirely on how he pre-sells it).

          My case rests.

    Alexa,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I was hoping that there would be a simple calculation or something. Oh well back to the drawing board

To be fair, actually, although there are doubtless some generalisations that contain some truth (such as "Forex products have higher average refund rates than other products do"), it's also very much true that any individual product's refund-rates will vary dramatically, according to how they've been pre-sold by the affiliates. Some affiliates imagine that it's clever to make all sorts of claims about the product that even the vendors don't make, and they can have very high refund-rates when the product obviously doesn't live up to their client's expectations for it. So "averages" don't really mean an awful lot anyway.
