Easier to rank WP Posts than Pages?

Hey guys I've been experimenting with my niche WP site using pages as "pillar content" and blog posts as conversational/daily update type content.

My strategy was to use the posts to link internally to my pages to get them ranked higher, but it seems like my posts get indexed faster and rank better than my pages.

Can anyone shine some light on this for me or knows any reason why a WP post would rank better than a WP page that is similar?

Thanks!

I think it is just a coincidence. Do you have both the posts and pages URL structure in the form ww.site.com/post-or-page, or do you use something longer like ww..site.com/date/category/page for pages? This would explain why you are experiencing different rankings.

I thought this happened because the static home page didn't have a lot in the way of new content - I have a lot of blogs where the posts are the home page and they seem to generate their own traffic based on keywords in the title of the post and in the body of the posts themselves. But the two blogs I have with static pages as the home page don't do nearly as well. But I will have to go and have a look at this URL business - nice tip

it depends on the type of seo youre doing to the pages, if you get more links to the pages they will rank better than the posts and vice versa .

you have complete control over that

Pages are NOT included in the RSS feed of Wordpress.

So, it will be slower indexing.

To get around this, use this plugin -> 'RSS Includes Pages'

that will put pages inside the feed too

Hey that's something I didn't know! I've been doing a bit of RSS promotion too so this will help. Thanks for the tip!

About the URLs I just noticed that some of the pages have 'parent' pages, and their links look like this: domain.com/parentpage/pagelink.

Will this negatively effect the rankings? The URLs are quite long, but it's all related keywords, no numbers or categories.

The main pages I was talking about are permalinked normal though: domain.com/pagelink.

Maybe it is just a coincidence or maybe they just need to get some age to them, I guess time will tell! In the meantime I'll keep backlinking and working to rank them.
