How effective are affiliate links in ebooks vs a web page?

Given the same content and the same audience, would one format convert better than the other? You hear great things about placing tasteful affiliate links in viral PDF reports, but do they actually convert better than a web page? Or do fewer people bother to click on a link in a PDF compared to if the were on a web page?

    It all depends on the quality of information in the pdf and if what you are offering is a logical extension of what they are reading about. Just promoting anything that has no real relevance doesn't produce any sales. That being said I have better conversion from my websites which isn't all that surprising because they are much more heavily promoted and follow a different format than an ebook.
