Been invited to submit a proposal to write 3-5 articles with a budget of $50 They are after 400 words minimum per article.

This is the part am lost on, they would ideally like me to post the articles directly to a wordpress site. Do i post them on my wordpress site? Just after some advice if anyone can help.

If they didn't specify a particular wordpress site or sites for you to post the articles on then I would say yes, go ahead and post them on your on blog.

You might want to contact them and ask them for a little more clarification if your not sure.

Yes I would seek clarity before posting ... if they have missed such a basic detail it may be worth checking the rest of the brief as well.

It sounds to me like they want you to post them to their site, they just didn't do a good job of specifying that. Check with them ASAP.

Pretty basic question that you should be asking your client as I do not see how our fellow warriors will be able to give you a definitive answer...

    Customerservice,

Your question borders on customer service really. He who pays the piper dictates the tune. They are your customer/client, I guess. So, you have to satisfy them unless you are not comfortable with the offer.

BTW, your question is not very clear.

Thank you for all the replys first of all.

The question i put to this thread was the same question asked of me. I have raised the question with them and other questions as well. I always presumed that when you done the articles for a customer they put them on their blogs/sites etc? I didn't realise you could put them on your blog as well.

I surpose am in shock for getting a invitation to bid for a job. ( First one )

      Thank you

        Hey Martin,

Great job getting your first writing customer. Of course, since they are paying you, they can decide where they want the articles published.

If nothing is mentioned, just save the articles and email the finished product to the customer once you are paid.

If they like your work, be sure to get referrals from your first customer. This makes it incredibly easier to get your second (and third, etc.) paying customer.

Before long you will have a list of customers standing in line to pay you for your content!

        Best wishes.

At present haven't had a reply to questions asked. Celebrations have been put on hold.

If you write unique articles for a customer, they belong to them. You can't also put them on your blog, otherwise why is the customer paying you to write unique articles?

Seek clarity for the instructions. This goes for future projects as well. If you're not sure about the instructions, don't assume anything. Just ask.

Contact them as soon as possible. After all, they are the clients. Clarify things. If the clients options are nowhere in sight, it is up to you as the service provider to think of any possible solution.

Just wanted to comment back to say again what I think is going on.

They're not clear in their instructions, but they want you to post the articles to their Wordpress site. They said "a" instead of "my" or "our" in an attempt to make the invitation for proposals sound official. Kind of like you might say "Write an article for me," but that doesn't mean you can write just anything. They still control where you post them -- on their site -- and will give you the URL where you can post them, plus login info, if they choose you.

I have had articles written for me before and it was for my site and I had all the rights to them, so you would not be able to use them and they had to be unique articles not copies from anywhere else, so I would imagine they would want the same. That is good you have got intouch with them, hope you get the job.

I would add that you should learn from this experience - create your own questionnaire that you either have your clients complete or just a checklist that you go through yourself. The list will help you stay organized and get to know what each of your clients desire.

Your questionnaire or checklist can be simple or it can be very detailed. Just keep in mind that the more effort you put into this concept the easier it will be to please your clients. When you are gathering information from a client be sure to discuss things like the agreed upon article length, rate, and keywords as well as anything your client wants you to focus on or avoid mentioning in the article.

You can also get details about the resource box (some clients prefer that a pen name be used and others do not - and some want a specific product promoted while others just want to link to their website). Additionally, you should have an estimated delivery date, payment agreements, and information about how the completed project should be delivered.

Questions i asked ( after the help of here ) have been answered. From their comments it looks like they have been stung before because they will be doing a check to make sure i haven't just cut & paste from anywhere. ( If i get the job )

Keep the advice coming as i am very gratful for all your help.

You should definitely contact them to be completely clear where they are wanting you to post. Don't ever just post it to the place you assume they were wanting you to.

Just thought i would give a update. After hearing nothing about the job, i checked out his award ratio and found that out of 4 jobs posted, none were given out. ( Should have done that sooner i think )

I would like to thank you all for your helpful advice & sorry to have wasted your time.

      Be careful out there,

i'm sorry to hear it didn't work out. You must be disappointed. But I don't think you wasted anyone's time. I think you got some good advice here like doing the questionnaire. And contacting the client right away when something seems so vague. No doubt other new providers will benefit as well.

Hope you land that first job soon.

I don't think you wasted anyone's time Martin, your post is really helpful for other writers who may not have come across that situation before.

I have done something like this before outsourcing work to a site I no longer do any work on. I made the person an account on this blog so they could go and write the articles directly on the blog. So it is my guess that this is what they want but you should really ask them first.

      Hi petevamp,

To be honest, i have done enough asking ( and they invited me ) and the work required had to be checked out before putting on his/her website. I am upgrading myself on this certain site to do what i know best, customer service, computers, data entry research, general office skills, planning etc. I will leave the writing to the professionals.

Some kind member on here advised me about bidding for jobs that had less than 20% award ratio.
