One of the great things about being self-employed is having the freedom to do things when and where you would like to do them. For example, I have an offline entertainment business (I'm a family entertainer), and I determine the times and places I want to accept bookings for my show. This allows me to take vacations when I want to, or a few days off here and there (just got home from Florida and the Bahamas). In other words, I set my business up so that I can actually enjoy life with my wife. I run the business; the business doesn't run me. As I'm looking more and more into developing an online business, however, I'm discovering that a lot of internet marketers (who are doing it full time), don't seem to have much of a life outside of their business. They're working between 8-12 hours every single day (sometimes more) in their pursuit to keep their business going. They've got to keep their hand on the button, or the machine stops working. Where's the freedom to enjoy the fruits of your labor (besides having a nice bank account)? So, my question for any readers of this thread is, "Do you have a life outside your online business?" Can you take an extended vacation? Are you able to work an hour or two on your laptop during your vacation (or not at all) to keep the machine "oiled", and then enjoy the rest of the holiday without worrying about the business? As im just in the process of setting up 2 new large niche sites im working 18hr days. I could just do it for 6 hrs a day but i want it out there now. i dont want to be waiting 3 mths for it to happen. I want to be able to go travelling next summer and have a decent amount of websites off the ground and automated without just relying on the one. |

| I have a full time job at the moment. I have to put in 4-5 hours per day before I report to the office. The business I have chosen to do generate residual income. I have started to make some money but it is not yet enough to sustain me. I am trying to build up traffic to my website. When reach a critical factor of 400-500 visitors per day I am sure it will become hands off. I will be able to maintain it with 3-4 hours of work per day. Robert |

I`m averaging more than 16 hours a day of work, just to achieve my goals. I am not trying to be paranoid, but I really crave to see my bank accounts full of cash, that`s my dream and that is what I`m here for, 16 hours day. |

I am now on my journey of making a product. As far as it goes it is hard and NOT as i expected at all(!) Even that i know the field for 2 years plus and read a lot, i started taking action and i see it takes time and a lot of time, it just that there are so many variables you did not notice and if you did another one pops out from no where. I think the secret of those who are really succeding is managing their time right and making quick decisions on what to do. And a big thing they do is out sourcing which saves you time. Yes it costs money but in their status they can afford it like an investment they know that will pay off. For me i do it all: - website handling - manging domains, uploading files, installing various scripts and such. - programming the website and html files - making the graphical designs - making a product from start to end - making a sales letter and these are general stuff where each one divides to a lot of more things needed to get done. Managing this in right way and using outsource with people who are experts in their field saves you TIME which saves you money and bring you profits. That is just my opinion related to my experience. |
