Firefox problem: unable (suddenly) to connect

I've been using Firefox all morning, it has been working
perfectly, but suddenly every attempt to go online returns
with

"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server"

However all other browsers work fine.

I've cleared the cache and rebooted my PC but that did not
help.

I'll point that an hour or two before this I had upgraded to
3.6.11 but I'm pretty sure it worked fine after that.

Any ideas please ?

    Harvey,

I had a similar nightmare with Firefox a month back. I found this page very useful

Disabling IPv6 AND flushing the cache worked for me (or maybe that was just a coincidence and Firefox reversed an "improvement").

I just upgraded this morning and no problems so far. However, FF seems to be getting increasingly erratic lately. I'm sure I never used to have so many problems when I first switched a few years ago.

      That solved it.

I reactivated my firewall (Zonealarm) and it claimed that
I had a new 'connection' of some sort.

      Many thanks

I just started using thunderbird email client a few days ago and it seems that firefox is dragging now. Anyone else notice this?
