Wordpress a bit of a minefield to me

I have seen and heard so much about Wordpress but whenever I go there, it's a bit of a minefield to me.

My main objective with everything I do is in order to drive traffic to my e commerce site, if this is possible with Wordpress

Can anyone offer some advice about a simple way to start with Wordpress.

This is possible with WP. Try the prestashop design skin.

    And to me.

This thread might make you feel a bit better: "we are not alone".

When you say "go there", are you talking about Wordpress.com?

Be careful, if you are: no form of monetization is permitted by their terms of service and a blog there that breaches their terms of service would have a very short life-expectancy!

I'm the worst person in the world to advise anyone: I have one self-hosted Wordpress blog with no content and I just don't know how to use it at all. But it could help you to do a search of just this part of the forum, looking for threads with the word "Wordpress" in the subject-line (there are hundreds, but you can see - sometimes - from their subject-lines which ones might be worth a quick read-through.

Do you realise that wordpress.com and wordpress.org are two very different things? Wordpress.com is free hosting for a very limited range of Wordpress blogs for personal use only (personal and family and hobby/interest blogs, and so on - nothing commercial allowed at all). Wordpress.org is the site from which you can download Worpdress blogging software to use on your own self-hosted site(s) and do whatever you like with it, without being subject to wordpress.com's terms of service.

I also felt that way when I was still starting but you will learn more about it as you go along the pages and read support guides about it. Their support pages are also helpful guides for you.

Anyone know of a good WSO or training program that shows the in and outs of setting up Wordpress websites (specifically e-commerce)?

Try implementing WP robot. It's not cheap, but it's well worth it.

    I hear you...

Wordpress was a pain for me when I first started setting up my site. I had to come over here on a regular basis and ask questions.

But I kept at it, and I finally launched my "re-made" site a few weeks ago and it looks great!

Not only that but I'm already seeing an increase in ebook sales and traffic is WAY up! My blog has never seen so much traffic.
