Do you mention price?

If you're selling affiliate products, not ebooks but say like stuff from Amazon.com, do you mention price on your page or do you let them just wait and click through to get the price?

One of my sites isn't converting as well as hoped and I think it's because I haven't mentioned the price of the items before they click through my affiliate link.

Any thoughts?

No, let them go and find out the price and drop the cookie while they are there....it does increase conversions

I don't know about conversions, but it seems like if you're hard-coding the price into your site, you're making a lot of work for yourself in the future. How will you keep up with price changes?

I would Mention price. From a consumer's standpoint, I wouldnt want to look into buying something until I know how much they are asking for it. I have seen it sold both ways, with the price on the lander and also hidden until the CC page pops up. What you could do is test it with an A/B split test. Do you have a tracking platform to track the numbers for something like that?

I'm sure I could set up Google Analytics to figure it out.

But you shouldn't be targeting people in this part of the buying cycle, you should be targeting people who are looking to buy and just checking the reviews just before they buy.

With places like amazon people know they will be one of he cheapest options so they will follow your link just to check the price, and it's a good chance they will be happy with the price and maybe even slightly higher proes give the reputation of amazon

Yeah I thought of this, but my competitor is mentioning price on his site and he says something like *actual price may differ or something to that effect.

I don't mention price. I don't know whether it affects conversion rate negatively. After all, my business coach never mentioned that to me.

I have done both and I haven't noticed a vast difference in conversion. I would still lean toward not mentioning it because your main job as an affiliate is just to get the click so even if they clickthru to check the price, now they are subjected to the merchant's marketing which is normally much better than ours. I DO mention the price if it is on special or there is a coupon they are offering because visitors like to see they could be getting a better deal if they take action immediately. It brings a sense of urgency.

If for some reason the price rises or even goes down - if you hard code it - then you would be constantly updating your site. So I wouldn't.

If it is your job to get the customer to click thru then I wouldn't mention the price.

But if it is your product on your pages I wouldn't make the customer have to go all around the houses to find out the price - that's just annoying and if having the price in plain view damaged conversions then there would be no such thing as eBay, Amazon or any other shopping cart site.

If you are going to place the price on your page - you can't display one price and charge another even if you add a disclaimer because it just makes you seem dodgy and it's bad practise.

Usually no, but it depends on the situation.

If you are able to test it, then do so if you strongly believe it is an issue.

If I'm selling a single product then I don't show the price, but they find out later on. But when it's multiple items then it's essential to show the price!
