A Debt I Can Never Repay

I'll make this short and to the point.

I have learned more in the last 2 days, because of this forum, than I think
I have learned in the last 3 years.

I want to personally thank:

Chris Rempel
Dean Shainin
Andrew Cavanagh
Magic Mel
Nicola Lane
Terry Hatfield
Ernie Lonardo
Mike Benkovich (needed that kick in the butt)
JayXtreme
Jeff Smith

I have never been ashamed to admit when I didn't know something.

I've been so used to doing things myself my whole life that I never
really took the time to figure out how to get help from others. It just
was never a priority for me. Possibly my mother telling me everyday
that if you want something done you have to do it yourself.

After a while, you start to believe it.

Anyway, thank you to all who gave me advice, knowledge and a good
kick in the pants when I needed it.

Today, I grew 100% as a marketer and a businessman.

And I am sure my income will follow.

Lesson to all...Don't ever think you know it all.

You don't.

  • A very true statement, we can all learn from others, life is learning is a process we can do from the time we are children till we are 100 years old.
Do you ever notice great musicians, become better after age 50 and the reason why is they grew, became more mature and knew not only how to play music better, but how to respond to people who listen in the audience. In other words they play to the crowd and give them what they want to hear with a gift that comes from thier heart as they sing. Great singers and musicans can feel the moving of the crowd and the peoples hearts as they reach out with their own heart to touch the lives of those present.
This secret is one I learned a few years ago, to be great at selling , we must reach out and touch other people, the same way we want our own hearts and lives touched by others who come to influence us.
People want to be enriched, just as we want to be enriched by the people we meet in our own lives.
So what am I saying.....well simply if I am selling an e-book, I want to be sure this ebook is worthy of information , that I myself need and use in my own life, the product I sell must be of value to me, and if it is, then it is of value to others. And there lies the truth of great selling. Treat people as you want to be treated, and if you do so in truth you'll truely will grow.
In this world we all need help,...yet just think ,....without friends teaching and showing us the way. Then what good is life , even with all it's silver, gold and money in the world, friends are more important.

Did somebody mention that I was a musician? What you said is so true.

      Thanks for reminding me.

No problem Steve...you have helped so many people on this board, and I admit it was a little surprising to see that you needed help from us for a change he he

You showed what makes a true warrior and if you implement the advice given in your other thread, your business will grow even more, because getting more affiliates can only be a good thing.

Every thread you make here is valuable and some may quince at your long threads, but me?.....I love em.

There isn't anything quite like having a nice cup of coffee and sitting down and reading a Steve W thread

PS: Good luck with the new product you plan on making, but I have no doubt that will be a success.

Ernie, some people would say that it's a miracle that I'm as successful
as I am with the quirky business model that I have.

Think about what I do. I spend most of my time writing, not promoting,
spend almost nothing on advertising and have NO affiliates.

Talk about doing things the hard way.

Because you have worked hard to get to the position your in, (steady income) your now in a perfect position to seek out other avenues and expand your business.

Based on what I know about your current business model I know you can triple or more your revenue.

Frank, you're right. And if I wasn't so damn lazy (to get out of my comfort
zone) I would have done it a long time ago. Well, I'm finally done with this
business model that's only gotten me so far. I know what I have to do
and I'm going to do it. My target date is sometime in 2009 to have
          everything in place.

It's not uncommon for you to have these revelations and despite your obvious stubborn streak you do have the capability to listen to others, accept that you can be wrong and apparently change your ways.

But as a witness to your business model via this forum and with the caveat that I don't really know you, I'm going to guess that you may just make a meal out of changing your ways. I know I may be wrong, but you appear to repeat this pattern of behaviour reasonably regularly.

Can I suggest something? Get yourself a coach. A real good one that you'll have to pay a ton of money to.

I get the impression that you like to go it alone Steven. However, if you really want to implement the change that should bring you the rewards you and your family deserve, then let go a bit and allow a coach to crawl all over your business and the two of you can develop a real solid strategy that will get you to where you want to go a lot faster and probably require a lot less work.

Peter thanks for the suggestion, but believe it or not, I know what I have
to do. My problem until now has been pure laziness. Yes, sometimes going
out and getting affiliates and doing things by the book, while actually
saving time, is more work for somebody who doesn't like to put his trust
in others. It's going outside of your comfort zone. It's a lot easier to just
do it your way, especially if it works.

Trust me, I've got it covered and my next product, and my first really
true launch, is going to be done by the book, by the numbers and as
              flawless as humanly possible.

And that launch will finally put me in the position where I never have to
              rely on myself again.

But it all comes down to the product my friend. It has to be rock solid, or
I will destroy my reputation and any chance I will have of ever getting
              assistance from others again.

So that's step one and I'm working on it now.

        Hi Steven,

This business model doesn't sound that bad too me!

Just think of all the people that rely on affiliates to make money online, and you know that you do it ALL yourself!

That's about as solid as you can get as you know you will always be alright!

Now that's what I call being SELF - employed!

        Wishing you more success,

Good on you Steve! I think every day of my life I learn something new about myself and usually it is by listening to other people. Not only have you listened to what other warriors told you - you have changed your perspective and business model as well.

All the best for that target date of 2009!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I set a goal every day to learn just one thing from this forum, and I usually end up learning 5-10 per new things per day. Not to mentioning sharpening the knowledge in a wide variety of IM topics I already am familiar with.

I spoke with a friend of mine today who attended a free IM seminar the other day. You know, the kind they advertise for free...and the kicker was a $3400 backend service to have them "do it" for you.

I couldn't believe the stuff he was telling me that was entirely new to him but was such basic stuff. But everyone has to start somewhere, and I just tell people to visit them forum every day for a few years and they will get a college education (actually better) in internet marketing.

so thanks for all your contributions Steve. My sister is starting to do some article writing and some of your posts on that topic came in handy.

Nicola, I learn from everybody...even my 20 year old daughter. The day I
think I know everything is the day that I am in serious trouble.

What many people don't seem to get, even though I try to tell them this
everyday, is that I am just a regular guy. The only reason I am as successful
as I am is because I work very hard. If I had a little more brains, I might not
have to work quite as hard and may actually be doing better than I am.

But that's all going to change very soon. I know what I have to do, I'm
going to do it and by this time next year, I'll finally be where I should have
      been 3 years ago.

For some of us, it just takes longer than others.

    Good for you Steve,

Having affiliates will surely bring you much better returns for your efforts. Going it alone only scales so well, so far. To grow, you need a sales force getting the word out. Let me know when you launch!
