Please List Owners can you be more considerate

of your subscribers. I really really appreciate the value that I get from most of my subscriptions. But sadly that value is eroding in many cases and I'm tuning you out.
Why?
Several things actually.
Video is one. Everyone is doing video and done right is fine. By right I mean at least put some controls on it. And short...10 minutes is fine. Also I hate setting through an video of unknow length before the price is revealed. I also understand list segementing and why you ask me to opt in to another list for your new product but can you not end promotions to that 2nd list after a reasonable time. Because in time I'll get several promotions from you for the next great launch, then times that by the other lists I'm on and usually the product owner as well. That means I may get upwards of 12-15 emails at a time for the same product. Of course that means another optin... and for some launches several hours of pre launch videos.
You may think why don't I unsubscribe or why so many lists? That is a fair question. One reason is that I like to get differeing opinions but with the formula most commonly used today I get layer after layer of same ole same ole until it just becomes white noise and provides little to no value. And I am unsubscribing.
What would I like to see?
Shorter introductory videos, ending that 2nd or 3rd list that you had me optin after 6 months? and requiring your affilates to do the same with their list, not new subscribers.
And if you are promoting as an affilate I'd appreciate it if it says free report it is a free report not another optin. Some marketers are offering a PDF without optin and embedding their optin in the report. If the information is good and revelant I can then optin.
Another thing I've noticed lately that is time consuming is niche cross promoting. I'm in several health related niches and I'm getting IM promotions from them as well. And the IMers are of course promoting the health product ( or whatever the niche).
There is an old adage that must be true;" Give a consumer too many choices and he/she chooses...none.
Frankly I don't believe most of what I read when just weeks after the best thing since sliced bread the next game changer comes out. Or that closed membership reopens for a limited time or I come back to sales page and it is still up/price is unchanged. I do check.
Or you have a program/product I'm interested in promoting that says it is coming down after so many people buy yet you promise me in your affilate page that I can make money from this. I understand scarcity but if you are lying to your (potential) customers what the hell else are you lying about?
All I'm asking is more consideration for my time and intelligence. Is that too much to ask?
I hesitated to write this, (it has been building for months) because I was afraid that either I would end up guru bashing or be seen as doing that. I believe there are a lot of good honest marketers who may be in just the same boat as I am; too many offers and not enough time to really think things through.
But then again I might be the only person that thinks this way. This is a long post and I really do appreciate your time in reading it.

You're not alone - see thread here:

where others are just as incessed as you by some of the less attractive practices by a growing number of marketers.

If that's what you're receiving - you're on the wrong lists... just unsub.

    • In regards to the videos without controls, time etc., either

1.) use enounce myspeed to speed up the playback. That doesn't give you any pause controls though.
2.) use a firefox plugin called "download helper" (google it), download said video to your desktop and play it (often times it's .FLV or .MP4 format, use a great free program called VLC player, it can play nearly anything)
3.) check out the source code of the page the video is on. Most of the time, below the video code you'll find a link to a buy button and at least can check out the price.

In regards to getting 10x the same email promotion, you should know that product creators also create the emails for their affiliates to send on launch day. Since people are naturally lazy, a lot of them will just copy&paste these templates, hence you getting 10x the same stuff.

If you find no value in a subscription, unsubscribe. If they are only pitching you one thing after the other, then it's hard to believe that they'll deliver their honest "opinion" that you're looking for.

      Cheers,
      John

There was a thread in here not so long ago where someone pointed out that in his promotional info for one product's affiliate program, all the promo tools trumpeted "only 250 will be sold" and the product creator was saying "we sold almost 8,000 copies last week, let's see if we can break 10,000 this week!"

It's always interesting seeing people who do these things act confused when their customers and affiliates don't trust them.

Sales videos can be way to long I like them when there short and to the point if there just trying to make a sale, but if they have some training or something to offer I dont mind if they go on as long as I get something out of it other than hype.
