Blue Tooth Dongle - Do these things work?

My wife has an inexpensive Compaq notebook that doesn't
have Bluetooth. She'd like to load some pics from her cell phone
onto the laptop.

I found something called a Dongle that says it will do
the job. Anyone know about these things?

Do they work?

I bought a USB one from Tiger Direct for about $20 including shipping. It works fine with my laptop and desktop. I've found performance to be better under Windows 7 rather than Vista.

    Hey Tsnyder,

Yes I have one and they work fine. Its just the same as plugging in a wifi dongle on an old computer that doesn't have wifi. In fact that is probably a good way to think of it, except it uses different frequencies.

    Cheers,

Get one for yourself too. Its a pretty handy if you want to transfer stuff from your laptop to your mobile phone. I have a mobile pdf reader app on my phone so I just use my bt dongle to transfer ebooks from my laptop.
