How to make 1 piece of content into many...

I received a PM a few hours ago asking how to get more content created throughout the day. I tried to explain in a reply, but thought a video could show easier.

It might be useful to someone else here too.

I agree with your overall premise, but I would hesitate to use the word "rehash".... It has such a negative connotation in these parts... I call it "repurposing"... LOL

Many of my own articles begin as either a customer question or a forum post...

Path A: Customer Question -> FAQ -> Blog Post -> Article for Syndication -> Podcast -> Video...

Path B: Forum Post -> Blog Post -> Article for Syndication -> Podcast -> Video...

Each level on both paths introduce one more layer of editing and refinement...

To me re-purposing means to take something that was meant for one thing and make it for another. That's probably fine for what you're doing here. But my initial thought was that you're multi-purposing. Your original content was meant for multiple purposes.

Anyway... so some would say.. how do you come up with an article in 15 minutes?

    I use a simple formula.

Identify a problem... a new problem, a popular problem, an old but aggravating problem.

Then go one of two routes... tell a story showing how the problem effected me and how I overcame it.

Or... create a how to article that list 5, 7, 10, or 13 ways to overcome this problem.

Then before hashing it out... (or re-hashing!) ... I create an outline, and then go and fill in the blanks.

I'd like to say that all my articles only take 15 minutes. But I've had some that become mini-ebooks and take 4 to 8 hours or even more to create.
