Buying Images For Website

Hi.

Where can I purchase suitable images for websites? I joined Stock Photography: Download Free Stock Photos & Royalty Free Images, the pictures are great but too large. The smallest images seem about 15 cm x 15 cm in size and I am seeking images that 10 times smaller. The thumbnails on the site which when clicked lead to the sales page are perfect but these smaller ones don't appear to be for sale.

Thanks.

Jim.

Jim, not so sure what you need, but you can try batch resizing them to the size you want.

There's a software somewhere around I think....batch photo resizer or something like that. If you use Photoshop then, you can record an action to resize and add some touch to a photo you already have.

If you use a cms, some come with a thumbnail setting that allows you to set the thumbnail sizes...

    Hey Jim,

Picasa is Free and all you have to do after loading an image
is select Export and then resize and even watermark if you wish
    before saving the file.

You might go to coffeecup.com for all kinds of
images and icons used on many websites.

I've used Stock Photography: Search Royalty Free Images & Photos | iStockphoto.com several times. There are tons and tons of pics on there.

Most people want large format photos - you can use any image editing software to resize the images.

Other places for inexpensive stock photos are:
Stock photo website is Royalty Free Stock Photos

Here is where you can find some other inexpensive stock photo directories:

Royalty Free Photos for Web Design

Use Gimp. I use their free software and works brilliant for resizing, watermarking and even adding effects. Works almost perfect just like the real photoshop.

Have you tried searching Flikr? There are tons of royalty free, free stock photos there. If you find a photo on Flikr you like and can't figure out what type of licensing it has just send a message to the owner to find out if you could use it on your site. Then use adobe photoshop, fireworks or something similar to resize them.
