Hey everyone,

This is my first real input.

I have a decent skill set, and all the tools I need....

Here is where I need your guys's input.

I am working full time and am only getting going online and am working on setting up a few businesses to replace my wifes job.

I want to set up my own affiliate program instead of using clickbank, what are your thoughts on this?

What would it take to get you to sign up with an affiliate program that is through a start up company?

The payments would be paid after 30 days.
There would be 2 teir payouts (you would get a percentage of sales from people you refer to the company)

Payments would only be made by check.

All products would be digital and physical.

Once a customer you refer is in our system they are yours for life, life long commissions.

I will be using jvmanager to do this, I have the plan and a few products ready.

But I need feedback as to what you would want as tools, and incentives to join.

    I would be looking for a track record of payments on time as well as some kind of assurance that you are working closely with your banks to be sure your merchant accounts are in order.

    I would want to see conversion numbers, avg lifetime earnings, etc.

    As a developer myself, I could only imagine the logistics behind implementing such a concept/system would be mind boggling.

    Ive never heard of JVManager :confused:

      Yeah... You are raising automatic red-flags...

      Most people who operate their own Affiliate Manager software miss payments...

      Nothing against you, but those who have come before you have muddied that pond a bit...

      You can overcome this with a lot of transparency and some serious credibility-building, but it will present an uphill battle for you...

      Once you get into it, the tax issues could be extremely complicated and costly to manage...

      If you don't like ClickBank, a lot of people are turning to RapBank... I just set up on RapBank this week with one of my products...

        Thanks for the heads up on Rapbank, is this quite knew? Maybe I should get out from under my rock but I'd never heard of this. I just went to the site and it looks pretty good but looks quite young. Just wondering how you found it and why you went for it - specific reason or to simply try it out? I'm putting one of mine on now to see how it does.

        Regarding the OP, there's got to be ton of easier and way less complex ways to make money online, especially if you're working full time.

    Please don't put yourself in a very tight corner. I don't think you can single-handedly handle such a huge task. How would you handle refunds? How would you ensure that the buyer's credit card payment details are secure? How would you prevent fraud?

    I have too many questions to ask.

    Join an affiliate network and let them take care of paying affiliates. You won't have time to do it if you have a job. A large network will also help you recruit affiliates.

    RapBank is an awesome alternative, but there are others as well.

    I agree that you might be biting off more than you'd like to chew.

    A lot of issues with this. Take people's advice but don't let them get you down. If you believe you can do it, then move forward with it.

    One thing I would not like about what you listed is being paid by check. It's 2010 surely you can set up some type of electronic deposit for payout.

      That is the feedback I needed.

      I just always hear tons of people complaining about clickbank, and other places so I figured I would see what everyone thought of this option.

      Clickbank will probably be the first place I set up with since they have a huge network already.

      I do appreciate the input. I was just thinking that I like the two teir payment system and would like to have implemented it but if having my accountant do the payments and administrative stuff would make less people work with me, then I guess clickbank will be the spot.
