Evening fellow warriors. I'm reminded of the movie.. Anyways I wanted to introduce myself. I've taken the plunge and have committed to doing this. I've wanted to write for a living for years but life happens, then it's I'll do it later. I'm not getting any younger. I'M DOING THIS NOW and am happier than I've been in a long long time. Ultimately I want to be a Novelist. Till then (thanks to Shaun's advice) I'll stick to one, maybe two endeavors to eat and put a roof over my head. I sure have alot to learn, but that's the fun part of this whole thing. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and reading all the good info I'll find on here.

It's a great time to be a writer. There are numerous opportunities available today that were not available 5 years ago.

Print on demand. In the past if you wanted your book published you had two options. You could try to find a publisher to publish it. Or, you could self publish. If you self published, that meant you had 1,000 books published, and payed for it up front. Kind of an expensive way to test the market.

Today there are many services that allow you to print on demand. So if you want to order one book, you can have the publisher publish one book for you to get started. If you go with createspace, this will cost you about $10 for your first book. Quite a bargain.

Ebooks. Five years ago we didn't have the ereaders like we have today. With the Kindle and Nook platforms you can have your books uploaded and for sale in no time. The best part, it doesn't cost you a dime.

      Welcome to Warrior Forum.

Yeah definitely check out creatspace dot com

You can publish your books there and have them selling on Amazon.

All it costs is $10 for a proof copy. After that anytime buys a copy of your book, Createspace makes a copy and sends it out for you. It's awesome!

    Hi Epictetus,

Do you plan to set up your own website to sell your work or use Amazon.com and other outlets?

Hi Robby Actually I do plan on a Website. Before I do however I'm looking for ideas and some good how too's in regard to links to other web sites, adverts, and stuff I know nothing about. It's not about the money, although that's important. It's about doing a good job and referring good information.

You can pay as little as $2.50 per copy if you use the right POD (print-on-demand) printer and stay away from the subsidy/vanity publishers who make their money by grossly over-charging their so-called authors.
