How Should I Market My Ebook

Hi,

I am having trouble getting anyone to buy my ebook, and as a newbie I figured it probably would be difficult. I know I need to work on my key words but I am trying to think of other ways to market it.

My book is in a very competitive area - Real Estate Investing:

Homes Without Payments - Owning and Living in a Duplex

The idea for the book is how to buy a multifamily property (duplex, triplex etc.), live in one unit and rent out the other unit. That way your tenants pay your mortgage and you live rent free.

I have it on clickbank, and have been writing articles and blog posts. But I thought of other ways as well. Here are some thoughts I have:

  • Sell it as a straight ebook with reports and calculator (what I am doing now)
  • Create an 8 week set of emails (one weekly) - give the book away and every week provide an email with the special reports - one per week. Then capture their names, write my blog and see if I can sell products to them from my website
  • Provide the book to realtors, mortgage brokers and contractors and split the price of the book with these people if it helps them win a job or commission.
I will be attending a real estate investors meet up group on Monday night to promote it there, but this is a pretty small audience. I have also been in touch with several realtors to see what they think.

I would be interested in, and appreciative of, any thoughts you might have.

Not sure how long your ebook is, but have you thought about creating a physic book out of it using CreateSpace, then upload to Amazon. This way, when you go to networking groups with your book under your arm, it will give you massive credibility! You could then pitch your Ebook version at a cheaper price, and use that as lead generation to other products or services in the future.

I had not thought of that. Great idea. Thanks. I'll look into it. The ebook is 181 pages, and I have a software program that comes with it to determine if a property you are looking at is a good deal. There are other reports with it as well. Can I add them as appendices to the physical book, you think?

Wow, 181 pages? Mine was only 76! In which case you might want to think about spliiting everything you have into 2 or 3 books? One could be the front end product, the other two could be back end. Then you could sell all in one go as a package and call it "Home study course" or whatever.

Another great idea. I'll try with what I have Monday night, but look into the other ideas soon. Thanks again.

Splitting your ebook is indeed a great idea. This way you could sell the first one for a lower price, and by this way there will be more out there buying it, and if your ebook does its job, you will create a relationship with your costumers, and they will more likely buy the back-end product. But don't forget that the key here is quality. If anyone buys your ebook is just for what's in it for them (in this case "Get you neighbor to pay your mortgage")
So after they bought and read your ebook they should be able to do that thing. If that's so, then splitting it and sell the first for a lower price is the best thing you could do.

hi there, first off LOVE this forum, great feedback and people willing to share and help anyway they can. here is my opinion, you might want to think about a new site, it seems kind of dated and feels that way. I AM a real estate investor myself, we have been doing short sales for 4 years. we use no money no credit methods to "flip" houses, and have done very well at it. My point is this, I can relate to your frustrations, we also wrote an "ebook", but are calling it a kit instead of "ebook", thats boring sounding. you can see our site (not officially launched yet) by entering a dot com at the end of my user name.

    here is some more feedback,

your site reminds me of a realtor website, those are a dime a dozen out there, find something better and more modern, less text right now. lure them in with short, quick, to the point messages. as much as you may not "want" to do it, you are gonna have to follow the lead of the guys of stuff that works, and thats "guru style".

so look into revamping your site. are you tracking visitors and traffic? is that the problem, cause having the most kick ass website/landing page does not good if nobody even sees it.

hope this helps, im a newbie myself and will be selling our hot damn short sales kit soon, that is why i joined to get as much info and feedback I can...and you are right, its VERY competitive right now!!

Thought I would put in my 2 cents. Here are a few thoughts.

I agree that maybe you should change the design of your site/sales letter a little. The sales letter seems good, but just needs jazzed up a little. Might even think of a teaser video, getting them interested.

You post your free bonuses almost as an after thought. You should highlight them better to build value, a lot of people will buy a product just for the great bonuses. If you do break the book up into several smaller books, you can use several of the books as more free bonuses to build the value even more.

As for traffic, What are you doing to attract clickbank affiliates? Networking with others in this field will help build connections and get them to promote to their list. I have done this alot through social media.

Well, maybe you don't need to split your book into 2 or 3 books, but you can certainly break it up into chapters, volumes or modules, plus you mentioned you offer a calculator software and some other good stuff...

This is what you should do... go to eBook Cover Creator - eCover Design Online Free and create your own ecovers, ONE FOR EVERY VOLUME plus another one for you software and some more ecovers for anything else you may have as part of the package... you can bundle then all up into a bundle image.... myecovermaker helps you do the single ecovers and then allows you to bundle them up...

Also, work some more on the overall design of your website and the font of the first header text lines, use "Impact" font and throw in some additional catch phrases, with impact font, in between the content.

If you want to outsource and get an expert designer to do it you can go to vWorker.com: More capable, accountable and affordable. Guaranteed. and place a job up for bid. You can get a minisite design done for you for $100 and more, it varies from vworker to vworker... but you can certainly get some good bids in...

    Cheers!

you can also try elance for ecover design, etc. I have good success with them so far, especially for those of us on a newbie budget.
