Just been looking in...

The new wanted section etc and ended up smiling to myself at some of the replies over there in threads posted.

For instance, if I was hiring a virtual assistant and asked folks to email me to apply etc, its going to piss me off if folks fill up my PM box instead. Or in other words I'd probably disregard your application because you can't even do the very first simple thing I asked you to do!!

We can apply this to marketing as well. It would be interesting to know how many of us buy something to help us with our marketing efforts etc then moan like mad about it not working when in actual fact we just didn't follow instructions...

Food for thought

It sometimes seems to me that a rather large number of people here don't actually read the post(s) they are answering.

I posted a question a few weeks ago. It got several answers - all from people trying to be clever and give me advise. Not one of them read the original post or answered the question I asked.

And no - the question wasn't obscure. I even added half way through the thread that people weren't reading the OP - no-one read that either - I continued getting answers from people wanting to show how clever they were!!!

Many people will take the path of least resistance to their goal...even if
that path leads them to a land mine field.

That's just the way human nature is Kim.

It helps me separate the ones I want as students from the ones I wouldn't
      wish on my worst enemy.

I read that thread, it was hilarious especially with the newbies jumping to conclusions about the intent of the OP and not bothering to read his post entirely. You get this problem too with long threads where people can't be bothered to at least scan through some of the responses, and end up making a fool of themselves in the process.

    Kim,

Or could it be due to the 80/20 rule?

Out of 100 people that read your post, only 20% will post something up.

Out of all those who posted, only 20% is on-topic.

    Hmmm...I'm rambling off-topic now :-)

Shh! Don't give away the secrets to successful
    selection! ;-)

I won't be disregarding applications from people
who don't follow instructions, but it will be a factor
that I take into account when making my decision
    on who to hire.

Yeah, so true! We cant say there were so busy as they really need the job. This is happening in other reputable forums as well, not just here at warriorforum.
