Squeeze page for free video

I am creating a squeeze page to give away a free video to promote an up coming product launch and to build my list.

I want to have text that promotes the free video and show the video player. But I want the customer to have to enter their opt-in info before the video will play.

How can I achieve this? I have used mailchimp for opt-ins up till now.

If I cant figure this out soon, will probably make it a digital download that I email the download link through auto-responder. But thought it might be cooler and more effective to do it this way.

Thanks for the input!

You could make a screen shot image of whatever frame of the video you want, with a play button on the image, so that it looks as though they can click to play it, but as soon as they do click it, it redirects them to an opt-in page.

On the opt-in page just tell them that in order to view the video please subscribe. I have seen lots of people doing this lately.

That's probably your best bet, but if you've got some money to hire a designer who's proficient with JavaScript I've got a sexier solution. You could take a screenshot of the video player with a back screen, place AJAX load gif in the middle, and after a couple second have an alert message fade in containing the opt-in form. That way it makes it look as if the opt-in form is coming from Youtube, Vimeo, etc.

I don't know whether or not the conversion rate would be improved enough to justify it, but it would be damn sexy.

Wonder if there is a free javascript code out there that already does this?
