Article Marketing Tip That Will Attract Clicks - Change YOUR Voice!

Seeing as article marketing is a big part of my business I am constantly reading other peoples articles for research purposes and to stay fresh.

One thing that hits me time and again is that many article writers seem to forget to aim their writing style at their target audience i.e. they do not change their voice!

So for example the style, tone, types of phrases you would use for an article about weight lifting and aimed at young guys should be vastly different to that used in an article aimed at nursing mothers.

If you get this wrong readers will tune out quickly as they do not relate.

On the other hand simply getting this right and speaking the language of your target market will (in my experience anyway) improve the amount of traffic that clicks through

Very true. Travis Sago is one guy that I've often heard recommending spending time and getting involved in forums based around your niche - it's a great way to learn the language of your niche and help you relate to their particular problems.

That's right. Research is important before you write.

Absolutely. Your readers (no matter who they are, how old they are, or what their interests are) want to feel like you're talking directly to THEM. They want to feel like you understand their problems/questions and have the solutions/answers that they need.

Your best bet is to pretend that you're in a restaurant having a conversation with a member of your target audience. What would you say? How would you say it? Your articles should be no different.

If your writing articles for others; how long on average do you spend researching prior to writing? I feel like I spend too much time researching at times and curious what others use as a stopping point to prevent time wasting. Thanks in advance.

I guess it depends on a few things, your knowledge of the subject, the resources you are using and not least how much you are being paid.

I do not write for others so I guess others may be better positioned to comment

I second the forums idea. Not only do you learn the lingo, but you also find out what concerns that crowd has as well as the answers to them...usually.
