Who here is a writer, what kind of writer are you, and what is your biggest success?

Although there are many different methods and strategies available to make money online, content production seems to be at the heart of everything. While you can certainly earn from making videos nowadays, the written word will probably never disappear, so long as there are companies/individuals that are in need of advertising.

3 Questions:

1) Are you a writer?
2) What do you write? (Sales copy? Articles? Recreational journaling, just for fun, to relieve stress from the day? Do you write particularly for content to host Adsense? Amazon? Linkshare? etc....)
3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)

Yes, published in many magazines and newspapers. Biggest success was writing jokes for Phyllis Diller, which she told on t.v., and being published in Chicken Soup's book For Mothers and Sons Soul.

    Hey Howie,

I am a writer, and really more a writer than I am an internet marketer, but I love both.

I write just about anything you can think of, from articles for myself and others (which are typically for selling products and getting backlinks), to sports and technology blogging, to my own book that is coming out in November.

My biggest success? Hopefully still to come with my book in November, but I guess barring that, my biggest success would be the fact that my sports writing is now being featured regularly on Fox Sports!

        1) Are you a writer?

        Yup. Professionally even.

        2) What do you write? (Sales copy? Articles? Recreational journaling, just for fun, to relieve stress from the day? Do you right particularly for content to host Adsense? Amazon? Linkshare? etc....)

You name it. What I prefer to write is fiction, specifically screenplays and comic books, and I've actually had some decent success with the latter (and I'm waiting right to see if a big deal project is going to get greenlit).

I will generally write anything for money, provided the price is right and I feel I actually can do it. But I've been paid to write: television commercials, animated shorts, radio ads, lyrics (despite having precisely zero musical talent), articles, tweets, copy, newspaper columns, website copy, autoresponders, comic books, a television pilot (local syndication, so nothing too cool) and a bunch of other stuff I've probably forgotten.

This is both good and bad. I'd probably have done better financially if I specialized more, but I'd have had a lot less fun.

        3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)

Hmmmm. The success that meant the most to me was getting a webcomic (several, actually) published by DC comics.

Thanks!! It's called FAILBook, and it is about why most of us do not ever achieve what we were made to do and what we want. Coming very soon!!!

I'm a writer, and I specifically stick to pet and animal content, because I'm a veterinarian and I know my subject area extremely well.

I write articles and ebooks for both clients and myself. When I'm really busy with client work I have been known to outsource the writing for my own sites.

I've had a few successes, but the biggest I think was approaching an offline magazine offering an article about my new website, and they accepted it. Not only that, they paid for it too. $280 for 800 words all about my own site to go into a national magazine. I'll have more of that :-)

      1) Are you a writer?

Yes, at least I like to think so.

      2) What do you write?

Anything and everything. I have written articles about topics ranging from how to find the best deals on a BMW to the responsibilities of airline pilots. I've been paid anywhere from $1 dollar for a 75 word review of a website to $50 for longer articles that are research-intensive.

      3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)

My biggest success was realizing I could write for money. I don't know where most of the articles I write are published. I guess I could search for a snippet of the article but I'm not all that worried about it. As long as I get paid, I'm happy.

Yes. Professional. I've been published in several magazines, online, and have had books published by John Wiley and Sons, Que, and Sams.

I write letters, emails, blog posts, articles, copy, product descriptions, reports, how-to books and courses and even full-length fiction novels. Sometimes I write in a journal, but am not very good at doing so on a regular basis.

My biggest success was when a writer emailed me in distress because her computer had died and she'd lost her only copy of the writing course I used to sell...she said she was in the middle of her third novel and didn't feel she could finish writing the book without it. I sent her a replacement copy at no charge.

    3 Questions:

    1) Are you a writer?

I'm a hack. But I've been earning a full time income for 15 years, writing part-time for Internet and offline projects.

    2) What do you write? (Sales copy? Articles? Recreational journaling, just for fun, to relieve stress from the day? Do you right particularly for content to host Adsense? Amazon? Linkshare? etc....)

I do write sales copy, but only for a select group of marketers I've worked with offline. Also, I only work by referral.

Not many articles, lots of blog and forum posts though.

I write for FUN and PROFIT. The profit makes it even funner.

Nothing for Adsense, Amazon or Linkshare.

I've learned over the years if I write my OWN projects, they produce more income and more income is FUN too.

    3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)[/QUOTE]

Not interested in magazines or newspaper. I deem my biggest writing success as being those projects I created, the ones I birthed, then sold off for 5 figures after getting as much moolah mileage as I could out of them.

I once sat in an audience and a "famous" writer was giving a lecture, first thing he said was; "What the hell are you doing here, WRITERS WRITE." I got up and left, he applauded and I heard him exclaim, "Well, there's hope for at least one of you."

    Thanks for asking.

    Gordon Alexander

PS. OOOPS, it's been two minutes since I wrote something.

    1) Are you a writer?

Obviously, as I've been making a living from it and from cartooning, comic books, fine art for 30 years.

    2) What do you write? (Sales copy? Articles? Recreational journaling, just for fun, to relieve stress from the day? Do you right particularly for content to host Adsense? Amazon? Linkshare? etc....)

I've written news articles, stories, poetry, song lyrics, comics, movie treatments, blog posts, articles etc.. I'm an editor and you need to spell check the word 'right' which should be 'write'.

    3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)

Too many big successes to mention. Having top writers in film, news, novels love my work and encourage me. Getting stories optioned for film production.

I looked through my first post, and didn't see this mistake. I try to be thorough and pay attention to detail, but, sometimes I'm so eager to post that I may forgo spell-checking until after I actually post...

    1) Are you a writer? I'm a marketer, salesman, and business
    man first. Writer second.

    2) What do you write? Some basic copy. Many articles with copy
writing aspects in it (pre-sell methods). I write to generate sales.
That's my stress reliever -- lol.

    3) What would you deem your biggest success? When my content
produces results for myself and my clients. I'm not a literrary writer &
I don't have any desire to be. My biggest successes is when I know I
was able to touch people in a positive way to move them to make a
decision to buy something I truly want to make a difference in their life.

When people buy from me, it's a act of faith and trust that I don't take
lightly and move with great care to make sure I deliver atleast 5x-10x
more what they paid. So, my biggest success is the feelings I get when
someone buys from me, the excitement I create in others, and the
financial tool we use called money to measure how many people we
    serve successfully.

I'm not one to brag. In fact, I'm possibly one of the most humble people you'll ever meet (lol). I just thought I'd share my answers, since I've asked the same of others...

    1) Are you a writer?

A deep-founded passion of mine is writing online. As of recent, I've begun contacting marketing directors, for major products, and have requested to write about their products. (In some cases, I just write about them, and marketing directors typically don't have a problem with it, just so long as I speak highly of the product).

    2) What do you write? (Sales copy? Articles? Recreational journaling, just for fun, to relieve stress from the day? Do you write particularly for content to host Adsense? Amazon? Linkshare? etc....)

Articles, and books. I've delved into sales copy a little, but only for myself. Not that I'm not confident enough, but, starting a business around sales copy production....I wouldn't even know where to begin with marketing my services in that way.

    3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)

Many of my articles have gained a viral status to the tune of tens of thousands of views. While I haven't reached the 100,000+ view mark for any single article, I'm getting there....

Generally articles of all sorts, but I'm transitioning to writing ebooks instead, because writing products for yourself is so much more lucrative and stable long-term.

    3) What would you deem your biggest success? (Published in a high-circulated magazine/editorial? Having an article receive tens of thousands of views? Featured on Yahoo's front page? etc....)
