Write things people like so much that they want to keep reading what you write. Then you can attract advertisers and traffic.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

A number ways to monetizing a blog are available. I use only a fraction for mine. A big one for just starting is Adsense from Google, as well as other ad networks. The key is good keyword choice as well as fresh, authentic content. (though some may argue that PLR material works as well). Affiliate sales is another cheap and easy way to earn some extra cash, though my favorite, and most profitable for me is creating your own product. Digital products such as Ebooks are a great way to catch some of the Internet spenders. Knowing your niche is helpful, but some contract it out and just sell it. The key is traffic. No traffic, no money.

I build niche blogs and with big success. I have tried adsense...but hey...why to collect few cents, if you can get big sales. With niche blog, you write product reviews and promote other people products. You get paid from 50-75% per sale.

    It's an massive topic!

The 'standard' way to make money with blogs involves finding yourself a keyword matched domain name, adding some relevant content, placing Adsense strategically and doing some seo work to get it to rank for the keyword you have domain matched......in a nutshell!

    Warm Regards,

blogging just means creating content and keeping up to date with that content. The possibilities to make money off of that are endless (review sites, niche sites, authority sites, etc.).

For example, I'm pretty busy these days creating a case-study site to promote my friend's latest marketing course online. I signed up for the course and every week I post a summary of my experiences, detailing what I did to grow my site or promote it so that other people can follow along.

Really, at the end of the day it's just about being engaging in what you write. Make it interesting, be passionate, be honest... and the money will come. Now, later on you`ll have to worry about things like conversions and tracking.. but none of that matters if you can`t deliver value in what you write.

    Cheers and good luck!

Two of the most popular ways are through AdSense and affiliate marketing... Heck, they can certainly be used together, too!

What you need to do is come up with a niche - something that interests you, that you wouldn't get bored researching/writing about/promoting. Do some research in your niche, and see what kind of money-making opportunities would work best.

And, no matter what niche you choose, or which monetizing strategy you choose, your blog will have to be chock full of great information and interesting content. Remember, there are millions of blogs all over the web. Why should people choose your blog? What makes you stand out?

Hm...first of all, you must have a thing to say..not just posts like "hello, first post".
Write attractive...subjects that are in dispute...about something that people will want to read more and more.
After you build traffic and people who read you day by day, then go further and make money from this...
    Good luck mate!

      Indeed!

This is where most affiliate bloggers fail: they just want to make money but, in reality, they have nothing interesting to broadcast to the world! therefore, they build no audience, and without audience there can be no sustainability in their income sources.

Firstly focus on finding something interesting to blog about, then focus on growing your audience, and finally focus on monetizing from your blog. Not the other way around!

God, I hate advice like this, especially since it's a complete load of rubbish.

There's a HUGE difference between building a site to make money and building a site to gain an audience. There are a ton of POPULAR blogs with a HUGE audience that don't make squat.

There are many more blogs that target a specific niche which make money easily because they are providing content to group of people interested in that subject.

Your advice works if you are trying to become immensely popular on a general subject, or if you are trying to get your name out as the "Go To Guy", or if you want your site on Google News, but honestly, it you are building a site to make money, then following your advice the person wouldn't even monetize the site for six months to a year.

I've had sites in profit in 3 days.

180 days or more to profit is a waste of valuable time, especially for a niche blog.

Do you realize that the question asked by the original poster was not "How can I make money from a website?" but rather "How can I make a career as a blogger?". Go read the topic for this thread again.

He wants to be a professional BLOGGER. I am sure we all understand the difference between a blogger and an affiliate marketer.

So I repeat my statement: if you want to become a professional blogger (not an affiliate marketer but a blogger) you must indeed have a worthy message to broadcast to the world.

Perhaps you should too since the OP also said "or earn money from it"

He wants to be a professional BLOGGER. I am sure we all understand the difference between a blogger and an affiliate marketer.
Yes, I'm sure we do. Have you ever read Darren Rowse's Digital Photography Blog? I'm specifically speaking of the site he had before he started his Digital Photography School. Every review on there is an affiliate link. Sure he provides quality information, but he still makes money as an affiliate.

Would anyone say he's not a professional blogger?

What about John Chow? Here's a blogger who makes money by telling people how much money he makes. He sells ad space and is an affiliate marketer.

Those are only two examples. I could name many more. The smart professional bloggers are also incredibly smart marketers.

So I repeat my statement: if you want to become a professional blogger (not an affiliate marketer but a blogger) you must indeed have a worthy message to broadcast to the world.
I was specifically targeting your statement about building an audience. There is nothing to stop you from making money while "building your audience".

There are a ton of blogs out there following advice like yours that are not making one thin dime, have great writing, but no audience. There is more to building an audience than having "something to say".

You need to target your blog. You need to build backlinks. You need to use basic SEO principles.

If no one ever finds your blog, it doesn't matter what you have to say.

I'll explain you in few bullets things that are important for making money through Blog

    1. Familiarize yourself with Wordpress
    2. Identify your area of niche for blogging after considerable amount of research
    3. Initially write three to four blogs per week
    4. After updating your blog each time, please visit other bloggers in your niche area and leave genuine comments on their blogs, instead of artifical or auotmated comments.
    5. With each comment, leave your proper signature -- linked back to your own blog
    6. Make sure you reply back to each comment posted on your blogs -- give it a personalize touch -- For example, if I leave a comment on your Blog, then reply back underneath saying, "Ali, thank you for leaving a comment .... "
    7. Take time to read the comments and reply genuinely
    8. Request other bloggers to provide link to your blog site on their right or left panels. Such backlinks could immediately multiply your backlinks resulting in high ranking in the search engines
    9. All this effort needs to be complimented with product promotion ads in your left, right top and bottom. But just make sure that your blog is not flooded with banner ads -- but end of the day you are bringing traffic to promote products/services to get commission
    10. Select the products of your interest to promote from www.clickbank.com

I guess, these are basic steps, but might help you out to start with a simple blog.

This list embodies the type of mistake I wanted to stress on with my earlier post: all these bullet points become useless unless you actually have something interesting, thought-provoking, significant or controversial to say. Without having "a message", you will not gather an audience, and without the audience you cannot build a blogging career, which is the point of this thread.

The bullet point #1 in that list should have been "What do you have to say to the world out there so people would want to spend 10 minutes of their morning to read your post?".

No my friend. That point just establishes that the niche can be profitable or, at any rate, it has plenty of affiliate products to promote. But that doesnt mean that you have anything UNIQUE or INTERESTING to say that might attract, engage and keep an audience.

There are many profitable niches out there, but that doesn't mean you can blog about it unless you have a worthy message.

    Here's my 2 cents:

    1. Pick a niche, something you will be interested in long term.
    2. Write good relevant content.
    3. Get 10-20 new backlinks for each new post you write.
    4. Submit the RSS feed for each new post you write.
    5. Submit the new post to twitter, facebook page, and 8 other random social sites.
    6. Post on forums related to your niche and have your blog link in your sig.
    7. Monetize it with your own product or affiliate products you think are good.
    8. Build your list by giving away a guide, report, video series, or email series.
    9. As your traffic builds sell ad space.
    10. Contact merchants/manufacturers in your niche and tell them you would be happy to give their products an honest review, all you need is a sample. You would be surprised how many will send their products to you for review at no cost to you...and you get to keep the product.

Obviously this is not a complete guide, but if you follow it, you'll be surprised just how "popular" your blog gets.

You have to have something to differ yourself from all the other blogs out here. You have to have your own style. Or some very good knowledge on a niche subject. Everyone can start a blog, but most of the time it's not more than a personal diary. If you want to blog for money, you have to have a very good plan and expertise. Many readers are turned off by "monetized" blogs.

Blogs are not businesses. Unless you're selling advertising
on your blog, your blog is not your product.

Instead, blogs are promotional channels you use to attract
people to your real business: selling products and services.
