Opinions on using Webmail through host!!!

I have my websites hosted through hostgator and was thinking of using webmail to create emails relevant to some sites. I have already got emails through my internet provider but have used the maximum I can have. Are there any pitfalls in using the webmail system with my host to create emails for websites that customers can communicate with me through. They suggest using suirrel mail to view these emails any advice???

    Hi Peter,

    Personally I hate using them.

The login procedure is a hassle and the programs aren't user friendly. As for your question of pitfalls, I can't say for sure if I know of any except for the above statement.

Ultimately I guess it's a matter of individual preference. You should try using it for a few days or weeks before deciding whether or not to stay with it.

I also hate them. I always, always try linking them to outlook express, outlook, apple mail using IMAP/Pop3... anything that is non-web based as it is so very annoying to get in and do business.

Thanks for all the advice. Is it an easy process to link them to outlook express and does this mean I will be able to read them and reply like any of my other emails.

      Thanks All

I create an email on the host then divert it to Gmail (maximum usability)

I agree, this is a great option. I also do it and then I am able to read the emails and reply using the mobile Gmail application, which works great.

There is also another advantage to this, which is that all the emails sent to your email address are backed up at another location (your Gmail account)

I use webmail for all business email. It has a number of advantages. Such as being able to read/reply to mail no matter where you are and on any internet connected computer.

Also it maintains the separation between your business correspondence & personal messages.

Plus, if you change internet providers, you don't have to go around changing all your contact email addresses or editing your details on any websites/forums that you may have signed up to.

So I have changed internet provider 4 times over the years but my business email addresses have remained unchanged.
