Looks like it's been heavily customized, but interested if anybody knows
what it started out as.

A look at the sorce code (ctrl+u) shows the it's a custom theme called "Mark's Daily Apple"

Possibly, flexsqueeze..

That is about the only theme I can think of.

Or.. Of course.. It could be a custom theme completly built from scratch as well...

Yes, custom theme built from scratch would be fine.

Just have a designer take a look at it and copy it if you want that theme, or email the blog owner!
