Hey guys,

Just wanted to share an AWESOME and free online screen recording software with you. I believe this is going to be a huge competitor for Camtasia Studio.

They're still in Beta. You need to have a invite code to register. Want one?

You can record your Screen (outside of the browser). You just need to have screentoaster open and enabled in your browser. After you do that, you can minimize it and record your desktop. How sweet is that?

I know jing does the same type of thing but limits you to 5 min videos. Is there any limit on the length of recording?

Yeah, I just looked at their site and here's what it says:

Are there some limitations of size and duration?

For the moment, each video is limited to a 20 megabyte file size and a duration of 5 minutes for optimized performances.

So it's really a Jing competitor, not a Camtasia competitor.

The good news for them is that they started early enough that Jing doesn't have a huge lead. The bad news is that Jing is easy to use and seems pretty stable.

Interesting...but definitely not a Camtasia Studio competitor...

Not even a Jing competitor because you don't create any source video files?

Nice little service though and certainly applicable for some uses...

  Think about the output rather than the input. That's why you buy tools such as screen recorders. For specific output purposes.
