Personally, I haven't changed my search habits much at all....I am not "conditioned" to look at the SERPs will typing my query. The predictive keywords (dispalyed in gray as you type) don't do much to influence what I type as well.

As far as what I see from keyword traffic to my sites, no changes so far.

I can definately see a change. And it will affect people who target long-tailed keywords.

For example, lets say I search for "How to live longer for men"

or something - no research done here ust put out a long tailed keyword.

Now - people arent going to see your #1 results first. They'll see it 6th

    How - results
    How to - results
    How to live - Results
How to live longer - results
how to live longer for - results
how to live longer for men - results

The way I see it, im 6 times less likely to get the click. In reality its not THAT low, as people will generally not stop on the "how" or "how to" or maybe not even "how to live", but the principle still applies.

I have only targetted short tail terms, so I have not seen anything yet.

Even with short tail terms, it changes the game. Why? I'll give an example. When you type 'new mlm' you do not get the results for new mlm. Instead, you get the results for 'new mlm companies 2010'. Check it out. You have to click a button to get 'new mlm' results. Most people don't click, and never see the 'new mlm' results, but just the 'new mlm companies 2010'. The short tail term gets beat by the long tail. Soon people will offer services where they query Google thousands of times to manipulate the term google chooses to return results for first. Like if I had thousands of robots search and click 'new mlm' then the Google algo would probably make that the default results returned.

Here's how I've handled the new Google instant seach in regards to my keyword phrases.

I did my keyword research through MS, got the golden rule keyphrases and started to build articles around them. The next thing I've done is to take those same keyphrases and type them into Google and see what comes up. Then I'll modify the keyphrase with what Google thinks is important and BAM, I've go another targeted article.

The reason I do this is because the person who types in "Long black hair cats" already has the mind frame that that's what they are searching for, so I don't need worry about the search results on the words "Long" , "Black" and "hair". However when they type in "Long black hair cats" Google may think that adding "Free" at the beginning or "for Free" at the end may be applicable as well.

So the way I see it is I'm leveraging Google's opinion to forumlate my articles and increase my chances of someone reading my articles.
