Recently bought Camtasia 6 and made 8 videos. Now I really like Camtasia Theater and the way it allows the videos to be played one after the other.

"When reading the help files, I see that the Theater is good for the Web or on CD."

My question -- If I zip up all the files that make up my Theater project, will a customer be able to download the zip file, extract and then view the videos if they don't have Camtasia on their computer?

Yes I wrote Camtasia Support but haven't received an answer back yet so I'd see if I could get a response here.

It really depends on how long the videos are and how much movement are in the videos. The longer the videos and the more movement in the videos the bigger the file size will be.

So, you can in theory make that happen. But, if they are super long videos with tons of movement, then that might not be possible.

It really all depends on how big the actual files are.

Now, I do not have Camtasia 6 yet. But, from what I hear they are using a different codec that allows the videos to be compressed to a smaller size.

I know customers can download large file videos because they do all the time with my other videos made by Viewlet Builder. My question was

Camtasia Theater - can the customer view these if they don't have the camtasia program on their computer.

      Boy do I feel silly

Sorry about that Judith. I must've totally misread the question. I have never actually use the Camtasia theater so I cannot comment on that.

    Judith,

yes, it comes in html and flash format which is compatible with all browsers.
    That's the beauty of camtasia.

You need to make sure though that you send the camtasia OUTPUT, not the camtasia project file.

Thanks Ralf, I know that's true with swf, flv files with html but in the Theater, the files are .mp4 files with some other files and that's the reason I was unsure whether a customer could view them without camtasia.

Also Shannon, I appreciate you're taking the time to at least answer my question!

      Judith,

The same holds true for the new MP4 files as in SWF, FLV...

Camtasia Theater spits out all the necessary stuff. The only requirement on the client computer is a suitable version of Flash which the code checks for...

    Thanks Lon,

I appreciate your answer. I finally got the same answer from Camtasia support. I was hoping for that answer so I'm good to go.
