Writing Articles for Pay per lead

OK so I'm trying to drive some traffic to an affiliate program that pays me for leads and was thinking of writing a few articles, then forwarding that traffic directly to the PPL.

I get the feeling though that creating my own landing page and pointing the traffic from the articles towards my page would make more sense, but 2 questions arise:

1. Are there any advantages of doing it either way?

2. If I was to create my own landing page, would I have to collect the info necessary for the lead from my page?

    The two biggest advantages of having your own site are:

    -If the affiliate program goes down or you just find a better one you can easily switch.

    -You can SEO your own website and get search engine visitors. All those articles you posted can work together to SEO your website. This way you will have article traffic and search traffic and the total will be more traffic for you.

    I have to agree, there have been many threads about how to make affiliates into a business or even if this is just not possible.

    Key to any sustainable affiliate business is to gain and build an asset.

    In an affiliate programme the only asset you have a the customer details and understanding, without a landing page you will not have the opportunity to gain any understanding or relationship with your contact list, niether will you be able to test what works or not within your articles.

    So definately I would suggest you spend some time creating the landing page and stroing information you can gain from it

    Thanks guys for your responses.

    My question now though is should I collect the info for the PPL on my landing page or should I be trying to send the traffic from my page to the PPL's form?

    If I am to try to collect the info for the lead myself, any suggestions for plugins or modules that could help with this?
