Hi Guys

Just read this great post about the growth of the UK Internet economy on the BBC website.

Time to start snatching up those .co.uk domains methinks...

BBC News - UK internet economy 'worth billions'

Cheers!

That's just the UK I think the internet as a whole is worth around $1 trillion a year atleast. That's just under 2% of the worlds Gross Domestic Product (GDP) I think that'll atleast double or triple in the next 10 years or so.

The UK is punching above its weight as an internet adopter, but even with superfast broadband, we will eventually be a smaller player as the rest of the world catches up, and does things cheaper!

Be sure you find a good registrar ... Most need you to register for 2 years and most will charge £10 ($15) to make changes to whois / transfer / release domains (and no it does not include a renewal or extension thats another 2 years)

If you thing it will be easy, think again, most of the domains I go after are squatted from people from all over the planet, with a ton from the US!
    Better try developing markets...

I live in the UK and it is a nation on the decline, it has been the case for the last 50+ years. Yes the UK is punching its weight in the Internet sector at the moment but it will soon get overtaken by China, India, Brazil and the US as well.

Personally I am learning Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish and American to enhance my future prospects.

Spanish and Portugese are very similar but Spanish is more widespread throughout the world.

And to save a bit of time the Americans speak the same language as us, so that's one less to learn.

        Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have one UK targetted niche that has just as many members from the US ... apparantly we are quaint
