Found some good keywords, bought relevant domain, the dilemma: static html or wordpress?

Hello everyone. Found some great keywords in a niche, did some research on the niche and the competition (not too much competition), bought relevant domain name...

But I can't decide between:

1. Going for a minisite with the product reviews in it and some pre-sell text optimized for the main keyword and then go write articles etc...

2. Slap wordpress in, make a section with the reviews but in the same time have around 10 articles or so and then start social bookmarking posts etc...

Witch one do you guys I should use? I think I can rank well with the minisite (and I like them better) but I think I can also rank well with a wordpress blog too...so...for a review site with 2-3 products in it...minisite or wordpress?

I am so biased I shouldn't reply ....but I will anyway - WordPress all the way. You have way more scope to do stuff quickly and easily and you can easily do the review site with WordPress and without as much mucking around. Faster you build the faster you can make money from it and build another.

    All the best

I think WP is the way to go. I haven't seen significant value in a static HTML site over WP in any setting. In fact I would say that having a WP blog is a positive bias with Google, as long as you keep it updated and there are links to it. Just my two cents.

WP is a bit of a resource hog but I would have to recommend it as well as WP does seem to do better right now for me.

    Hi Marian,

I suggest using word press, but intelligently.

    - make SEO tweaks.
    - create a mix of post categories and static pages.
    - put important content that is meant to last on pages and link to them permanently from your blog home page.

Blogs where all content moves to the archive over time lose out on some major SEO chances, static sites that have little fresh content for years lose out on the advantage of growing content.

That's why a good mix is the way to go.

the thing is that I will not keep it updated at all times...and I think I could rank faster using articles...

You can use WP as a static site you don't have to use it as a blog so you won't need to worry about updates. Plus you can use the built in future post publisher to upload any content that you may want to publish in the future.

Just as Leanne mentioned, I use WP as a website. It has all
the blog functions built in of course.

But I SEO'd it up, took out dates and useless links, added a
few navigation links on the bottom, and when I add a blog
post - it goes under my Articles or News section.

You can see 2 WP sites in my sig. The "For Affiliates" site is
TechPress theme and the "For Merchants" site is Structure
    theme.

    WP all the way.

One option is to configure Wordpress so that you show a permanent static page as your home page and also include a few of your latest blog posts underneath the static part. This gives you the benefit of having some sort of introductory message, but also regularly updatied content on the home page.

    Cheers,

How good are you with Wordpress and how fast do you want your site live?

If your knowledge of WP is good and you know which template and plug-ins to use then I would use WP.

If you are new to WP and want the site up-and-running fast I would use an html template.

There are no absolutes so what I would do is get two domains and play them off against each other. This way you will know and not have to rely hear say.

Domains are so cheap so why not try it.
