I found a niche that I am interested in setting up a website for. The website at the top is a PR0 but with 20,000 backlinks. Are these kind of websites beatable? Any help from the experts here will be greatly appreciated

What's the search volume of that keyword?

Yes, in principle they're usually beatable with quality - albeit not overnight. Quality content and quality backlinks from relevant, decent sites (which I suspect that current site doesn't have, even if there are 20,000 of them, otherwise it perhaps wouldn't be a pr-0?). I'd probably be jumping into that one, myself, if I fancied the niche. What do numbers 2, 3 and 4 look like?

Strangely, they are mostly PR0 with 10k to 15k backlinks

Good ... take a long-term view and beat the whole lot of them with a good site and quality SEO, then.

As long as it's probably a "buying keyword" with a range of AdWords ads appearing on Google for the search-term, and so on. Good luck!

It might be worth it to also check the WHOIS data for those competing websites. It could be that they're too new to have been assigned PR in the latest update. You should still go after it, but doing a little extra detective work can't hurt.
