hey guys,

I'm new to internet marketing.

I want to send messages to people who are interested in my field on a social network. I am afraid of sending spam though.

Please tell me if this is considered spam:

Finding someone on a social network who is interested in X(example video games)
Then, sending them a message saying:

"(name)
My name is (my name).
I see you are interested in video games. So am I.

I just started a video game business. Are you or anyone you know interested in video game consoles or video games?"

Thanks you guys

I would really appreciate it if you can tell me whether this is spam or not.

I don't think the message is spam, just really bad.

First you tell them that they are interested in video games. Then you ask them if they are interested in video games.

You need to have more details of exactly why you are emailing the person. The first thing that I ask myself when I open an email from someone I don't know is, "Why am I getting this email?". Your email doesn't tell me why you are emailing me.

It looks as if you are taking too many steps in the emailing process. If they reply with "yes, I love video games", I am assuming you have a follow up email for this response. The email that you are going to have your 2nd follow up with should be your first email.

Hope that makes sense (and helps)!

Many games have 'teams' of players. People that meet in the game and either play with or against each other. Some of these teams have hundreds of members. (depends on the game). A lot even have their own team websites (closed forums usually), where they strategize, etc. If you play, may as well play on a large team. You get to know people on other teams as well. If you are good, you will get people trying to steal you for their team. The whole thing is a huge sub-culture. Of course, I am not telling you anything new.
I would get on a team, become well known, (by being good, personable and have some characteristic trait), And then in the course of interacting, when appropriate you offer whatever someone is looking for at a rock bottom price. It will become known you are the 'go to guy' for whatever it is you let known is available through you WITHOUT 'selling'. (We are here to play, not buy).
That is, IF you are playing anyway. It is like a car salesman eating at a restaurant always leaves a big tip and his card. (Or whereever it is he/she hangs out). There were places at certain times that had a parking lot with 3/4ths of the cars Nissans (what I sold) during meeting times. I NEVER 'sold' a single one of them, yet I ended up selling most of them, if you catch my drift.
