Help getting started with my list?

All right, I finally caved and started building a list.

I got a Profollow account, released a free ebook about how to outsource article writing in a popular giveaway event, and I now have 52 people on my list. I set it up so that when they confirmed their email address, they'd automatically be redirected to the file location to download the report. They have what they want for free (though I'm considering selling the report for $5 now), and I have them on a list -- fair exchange.

...what do I do now? Any "List Building for Idiots" guides you recommend?

I know I should send a friendly "Hello, here's more free stuff" type email. What kind of topics should I focus on with this list -- just "outsource your article writing" or "make article writing painless" type stuff, or stuff geared towards writers too, or all kinds of IM stuff?

I don't want to screw up, but I know I need to start contacting them soon. I don't want to oversell or puff myself up as some big expert, but I do want to provide value and give my list information that I'd want, so I don't need the "provide quality" advice -- more specific tips are welcome, though!

Thanks so much, as always.

Why don't you set up a free 10 question survey on surveymonkey and ask them directly what else they would like to to provide them answers to?

Congratulations on actually starting to build a list.

I started off with 8 subscribers back in November 2003
so you're 44 subscribers ahead of where I was back then.

As your first subscribers have already responded to an
offer for an Outsource Your Writing eBook, then I'd focus
      on that topic.

(I doubt that they'd be as interesting in how to write
articles themselves if they're looking to outsource the
      task).

Just be yourself and write your e-mails like a one-on-one
conversation between you and a subscriber.

Take a look at the topics covered in your eBook that
they downloaded and then expand on one point each time.

Maybe start off by answering the biggest question that
you find people have about outsourcing their writing.

Keep in mind the next steps that you want them to take
such as buying your next product or service.

      Dedicated to your success,

      Shaun
