Hey Warriors,

I've searched for a micro-niche and found one that can be profitable. I'm soon going to buy a domain for it.
Let us assume I'm targeting "long keyword 123". Now this exact keyword is not available and so I'm screwed. However, I used some brains and found a domain that looks something like this "XXlongkeywordXX123.com".

Now will this keyword help me anyhow in ranking? Should I consider it somewhat exact keyword and work more on the site, or should I move on?

I mean will I be getting any benefit of the domain as it contains the searched keyword. One more thing I would like to tell you is that on the first page of Big G only 2-3 results shows somewhat exact keyword and not the perfect keyword in their domain.

So Warriors,
Do you think I can rank for the keyword. Competing pages are around 5000 and exact search results according to Adwords keyword tool is around 1000.

Please help me as this is going to be my 1st website.

Have you tried with a hyphen in the domain name? Like long-keyword123 or longkeyword-123. I have 2 sites with hyphens in the domain.

Not knowing what the XX's represent, it would be hard to say. In most instances, as long as the keywords are in the name, you have the possibility of ranking with that name.

Yeah I agree with Chooch. Hyphens are much better way to go. I've had a few keyword heavy domain names with hyphens and they do quite well in the search engine results.

I think you could also use something like long.keyword123.com or you could do longkeyword123x.com if the hyphen version is really not available. it would be the best possible version though i think.
I'm not sure about this, but I think I heard about long.keyword.com/123
but i cannot confirm this as I haven't tried it and it's not widely used.

I tried finding for the domain including hyphen, but my bad luck hit me there and hyphen version is not available at all. If I just include an S in the middle word of my keyword phrase,the search result just come down to less than 100 for the exact keyword.

The keyword phrase is 3 keyword long.

i've seen some domains that just added "x" or "24" in the end. or maybe you can add something like "my" or "best" or "blog", so that you still have the keyword in it.

Will adding my or blog or 24 or something like that will not have much any effect on the SERP as the keyword is included in it.

It will have an effect, because when you add the x or 24, then your domain name is not exactly the keyword anymore, but it still contains it. Of course getting the exact keyword would be better, but if that is not possible and you still want to go for the keyword, then this would be the next best route i think.

Also, if you really only looked at .com domains, then go out and see if you can get .net or .org. I have one two .com domains and one .org domain and there was no difference in ranking them. From what "the experts" say, you should always consider .com .org and .net domains and from my little experience I can completely confirm this.

Also try adding "hub" or "spot" to the end i.e. "KEYWORD"hub.com/net/org

Hey Guys,

Actually I'm not interested in .com, .org, or .net as the niche concentrates on a particular country and so the domain TLD will be related to that country.

I just searched for a domain like "longkeyword123-hub.TLD"

And I found it. So now whats your call on it.
Will it help me rank higher.

If you can't buy the exact match domain name then you have to add a word as has been suggested before.

It does not matter whether you place the extra word before or after the keywords.

I have found this list of words very useful, and I suggest you take a look.

I think that what matters when it comes to competing pages is the first 10 sites. That is, if you can beat the sites on the first page, then you are a winner, warrior!

You have to consider if the sites are web 2.0 sites or authority sites, then find the keywords they are ranking for, work your butt of if you can until you overcome the competition.

All things are possible to anyone that believes and is diligent.

One thing you need to look at is these days people use bookmarks instead of typing the long domain names. So don't worry about hypen and long names.

In the long run, it doesn't matter what your domain name is as long as you put a lot of umph behind it in SEO terms.

On another tack, as someone else pointed out, most surfers/searchers barely notice the domain name because they bookmark the site if it is what they are looking for.

If you are going to exist in the real world and be printing direct mail etc. that would require potential customers to remember or type-in a long complicated web address, then a more compact version with a snappier domain word name that forwards to the long version would be a good idea.

i would try to find a domain with the keypart of the keyphrase, and then make a page about the micro niche, and perhaps more relevant pages. e.g. vvv.xxkeyphrasexx.com/micro-niche , micro-niche2 etc.

Good luck in your new website as I guess you already found the answer to your problem. Its kinda fascinating that you had a hard time when getting a TLD domain.. I guess the competition is not so tight but remember to give valuable content to drive relevant traffic into it. Have you registered your domain now?

Hey Everyone,
I'm pissed off now. My domain name problem is now solved but I can't buy one as I don't have a Credit Card.I tried buying it through my debit card but to my despair, I was not able to do so.

Can anyone help me with this.

Godaddy's promocode was applied and I got a discount too but I am not able to complete the purchase. I'm in middle of the mess now.

See if theres some deal with 1month hosting for $5 and a free domain. I think I did something like that and then just canceled the hosting after 1month. Just try and find the cheapest non domain service and then see if they give a free/$1 domain with it.

I think there's some tradeoff between taking a domain name that is easiest to rank high on google, than make it something that sticks to mind and looks more "professional" site. I mean warriorforum.com sounds better than warriorinternetmarketingforum24.org , but the latter might be easier to get highly ranked. I guess it depends on type of site but this is something I have been wondering myself too.

As for paying for domain, what form of payment you Can do if not CC? And remember that you need hosting too. Some allow paypal payments, at least HostGator, and probably others can be found too by googling.

I have a paypal account and so I'll not be facing any problem with Hostagator. I also bought the domain name with my paypal account.
I had a debit card to purchase a domain, but was not able to find any company that sold domain and accepted payment via debit card.

I'm upset as I was not able to use godaddy's promocode, but sometimes you need to settle for less.

You don't actually need the whole keyword in your domain name. My site How to Get a Girlfriend | How to Get a Girl to Like You | Advice on Dating Women is ranked in Big G 1st page for a very competitive keyword (over 58 million results).

What you need is a domain name that explains clearly what your site is about. Then you get links from other sites to your site.

This is how I get my site rank in Google 1st page. You also need to have quality content with the keywords you want to rank.
