I've heard quite a few people say that DigitalPoint is an excellent place to sell your site. I think they also take you through thw whole process as well so you package it as professionally as possible.

One question. Why do you want to sell it?

You'll get 30-70% more on Sitepoint than you would on Digital Point. There are also a lot fewer scammers on the former.

    Try eBay too.

If it's a proper business then just head straight to SitePoint Marketplace - Buy & sell established web sites, startup and turnkey websites and more

Their listings cost about $20 to list but the buyers there are MUCH more willing to spend money on the "right project".

DP is just a little backwater forum which you wouldn't want to try and sell a business in.

I just sold a little review site there for $150 today but that's about the best of what people there expect. Most of the DP site buyers are adsense junkies (sorry to generalize but that's what I see!)

As far as I can see none of those sites are any use if you have a site that actually makes money and is worth $50,000 or more.

I have tried selling my sites to free up time and money for other projects, but I'm not about to let them go for what I can make in one or two years.

Anyone know how to find serious buyers?

Sitepoint Marketplace is probably the easiest place to flip a site. Just my 2cents.

I also say Sitepoint is the best to sell. Look at DP if you want to buy.

There are also some website brokers around for higher value sites but the sale will take quite a bit of time thanks to due diligence. Depends on how much of a hurry you are in.

Personally I would avoid DP or Ebay for a higher value site as the people there seem to be more "bargain hunters" than serious investors.

A quick search in Google will turn up plenty of options for you in terms of website brokers, though I still swear by Sitepoint.

    All the best,
    Richard

sitepoint is exellent, as long as you provide the information to back the listing up, like screenshots of earnings, traffic etc. If it's not making money it may be difficult to sell, unless someone is specifically looking for something you have established already.

If you're looking to make a cheap, quick sale...digital point...i've never been ripped off on either sites.

I've used several auction sites for a while now but the problem has always been the listing fees. I just found a new site called JustClickAuctions.com that lets me add listings for free so I'm going to give it a shot. The site looks pretty amazing. Regarding valuation, it all comes down to what the buyer is willing to pay. You may believe it's worth $X but at the end of the day, it all comes down to what you can convince the buyer it's worth. Great discussion!

Some people also like Flippa.com. Personally, I've heard pretty mixed opinions regarding their buyers. May be worth checking out for you.

      Good Luck,

Thanks for posting Yaro's. Sitepoint could be the best option and Ebay and I would second on those people who suggested these.

Forget Ebay. as with most things on Ebay the prices have been driven into the ground. great for buyers but not so good for sellers

I would 100% recommend flippa.com, digital point I am always a bit wary of due to supposed high amount of scammers on there now.

i've got hundreds of domains that i'm looking to sell or rent and paying the prices of these other sites like flippa would ruin my bank account so i put together 48domains.com just to see how the classified type approach would go.

security wise, i'm thinking of pimping escrow.com so you don't get ripped off or does anyone else have an idea that might work best?

as i'm reading all of these posts, the security issue comes up so i can see why sites like flippa are charging what they do but surely, there's got to be a better, easier and cheaper way to do this type of business.
