Posting in certain threads

I have tried looking through of for posting rules and I cannot find the answer to this question.

Why do certain threads require you to have to have a minimum of 20 posts before you can reply or post to them. While others do not. Just curious of the rules and cannot find them.

Thanks

I'm not sure if it is stated anywhere specifically.

It is done for reasons to try to add some layer of protection from spammers and fly by night members. (this is my belief, you'd need to contact the support desk if you want an official answer)

It's actually specific parts of the forum. They require a minimum number of posts so people won't register just to post in those areas.

There are a lot of really good discussions here. You shouldn't have any trouble finding ten questions you're qualified to answer and ten conversations about things you find interesting, if you look hard enough.
