It's hard to quantify which is the most profitable niche per se as there are so many variables involved, but what is more important is whether a niche has longevity. You definitely want to enter "evergreen" niches that have staying power such as health and fitness, diet, dating, etc. and stay away from the "fad" niches which might be enormously profitable but only for a short period of time.

What if you were very good at finding and dominating in "fad" niches for a short time. Moving from the fading one to the rising one.

One could earn a decent income that way.

I do not doubt that at all. But do you really want to spend all your time and energy on dominating short-lived niches, when you can enter niches with more longevity that will pay you residual income for a long time to come?

The question here is this - do you want to do a lot of work on a regular basis to generate quick bursts of cash (that will quickly dissipate), or do you want to do work on a regular basis that will generate you nice income that will only increase steadily over time since these niches will be monetizable for a long period?

I just want to ask Who don't want to earn money? That is why internet marketing is really good niche. Due to this intenet marketers are increasing day-by-day and hour-by-hour! Tough competition is there, but if you search you can find your sub-sub-niche and you can make money. I would suggest to enter other low competition nieche. It will give you quick result compare to internet marketing niche.

Any niche is profitable if you have the knowledge in the niche PLUS your good marketing strategy.

As long as you are providing value in the niche and you market well, you will make money from it.

Go with your gut in what niche you want to venture.

What is profitable for one person may not be profitable for others. You have chosen two highly competitive niches. Personally, I prefer low competition niches with a fair amount of searches. There are so many niches, but newbies often flock right to Internet Marketing, way before they even know anything about Internet Marketing.

Adam, first I'd argue with your categorizing 'health' as a niche. It's actually a very, very broad market with countless niches within it.

'Internet marketing' is also a broad market with a lot of niches within it.

With that said, the most profitable niche for you may not be the most profitable one for me.

For example, I'm a 52 year old man who has been happily married for almost 30 years. Even if I adopted an alter ego, I'd have a really tough time making a go of the seduction/pickup artist niche. A 20-something 'playa' might kill it.

      Just apply the fundamentals...

For long-term profits look for evergreen niches where people willingly spend money for things you can offer them that you can easily reach with those offers. Most of the more lucrative ones cater to either desperation or obsession. In my experience, desperation may be an easier sale at times, but obsession has legs.

        Sex, Sickness and Serious Cash.

Sex: relationships, seduction, look better, increase your performance and/or..well..size etc.
Sickness: Heal something and make it go away (not prevention though)
Serious Cash: Make money (preferably without doing any work whatsoever)

These do seem to be the primary areas people are drawn to when it comes to buying stuff online. Notice that a lot of people want to make money without doing any work whatsoever, which explains why so many Hyped-up, pie in the sky promises, sell like hot bread.

With the global economic crisis the way it is, I believe more and more people will flock to the net to look for ways to make money online. MMO is not my primary market/niche, but it can easily relate to my niche, so I plan to add a few MMO income streams to supplement my primary products as well.

You said more than a mouthful there brother... Then again, at least in the US, there is an attack on medical specialists (and a shortage of primary care physicians).

I believe that another niche with is as great as the IM niche is
the entertainment niche, especially video games.

people love entertainment, they cant do without it.

or which one of you do not like being entertained?

Hmmm - good point and one worth debating.

I agree it's the easiest for newbies to make money (although competition is cut-throat) but I'm always interested in guys like Eben Pagan who made his money outside of IM before venturing into the arena.

Internet Marketing is the mother of all niches. To be successful in any other online niche you really need to have mastered it. It's where everybody has to start to learn the trade and is therefore buzzing with hungry buyers so it will probably be always one of the most profitable niches to be in. That said, those with real talent can move beyond the IM niche once they've mastered the skills.

I totally disagree, the IM market is a fantastic market to be in. And you don't need a budget to make money in it. Yes it isn't wise to use something like PPC in the IM market, however, why not use that massively competitive market as your advantage and start doing Joint Ventures.

Internet Marketing is a good niche and not nearly as competitive as some people make it out to be. There is room if you want to carve out your own piece of the pie. One of the biggest advantages the IM niche has is that there are tons of affiliates and people who are savvy on product launches and JV's etc. In other niches the tactics are not as wide spread so it's probably harder to get the same level of leverage as you can within the IM niche.

This is coming from the standpoint of information product development. If I where thinking from the perspective of selling things as a pure affiliate or blogger I think you'll have an easier time in a sub niche outside of IM.

Internet Marketing is FAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR from the most profitable niche.... You just gotta dig deeper!

It can be VERY difficult to find or think of something else if you're reading posts on the Warrior Forum all day because all you hear about is Internet Marketing.... Programs, services, ebooks, blah blah, my mailing list, blah blah blah. There's a whole other world out there.

To succeed online, however, you will need to master the art of SEO (on- and off-page)(unless you have the money for paid advertising). IMO organic traffic is better, more reliable, and more consistent than paid...

Having made money with things that bring me passion and also things that dont... I would say that its best to find something you like alot... or else you find yourself going through the motions and work is a drudgery....your creativity will not be endless...well, it can be, but its a drudgery coming up with more of it after the first big bang is over...

To really enjoy making money for the long haul its nice to actually LIKE what you are working on. I know thats stating the obvious.... but the quality of your experience is part of prosperity to me... you can make money and feel like a slave still if you hate what you are doing.

Kevin I have to agree with you here.

I am going to post some reasons why I feel this way:

      1. I do not have to pay for traffic
      2. I do not have to pay for advertising
      3. I do not have to build up a specific niche to make money
      4. Im paid instantly where other advertising markets are paid weeks later
      5. I get paid 24hrs a day, 365 day s a year. I do not have to monitor my stats.

These are just 5 facts which support my claims. Please understand these are my feelings only and everyone in entitled to an opinion.

If you have to do those above things to run your business, you may be profitable but not as profitable.

Therefore internet marketing inst the "most" profitable niche

Internet Marketing and Money Making Online is the MOST diluted niche in the world. Money generated because people WANT to make money, not because they MAKE money. The real money is in other niche than those 2 niches.

Internet marketing is very profitable. There is too much competition online, but the same happens with all the other niches, while there are not so many people interested on them.

If you are an expert on something else, then you may succeed in a different niche. Other niches have different requirements. I’m on mental health. This is a very difficult niche, JVs are impossible; there is too much competition from very strong competitors, etc. I’m having success only because I’m a real expert and I’m insisting, posting daily articles, etc.

However, I’m also getting involved on IM, and easily selling my articles about this so demanded topic – I’m giving full rights, as a freelancer. IM is a very simple subject, and quite pleasant.

It’s obviously easier to make money by teaching other people how to make money!

Wow! Opinions on this thread are split right down the middle.

My 2 cents. IM can be very profitable IF and that's a big IF you first explore micro-non-IM niches and master them. Once you know how, then you can take what you have learned and sell your knowledge in the IM niche. I think too many people jump into it before really understanding IM to begin with and end up looking like scammers.
