Hello warriors,

Right I am in a bit of a dilemma...

I have a pretty big forum and I decided to upgrade from smf to vbulletin. I also decided to move the domain name as well from the .co.uk to the .com.

Now what do I do? the old domain had about 200 backlinks pointing to it and also pr1 also it was number one in google.

Should I just redirect the.co.uk (but I will lose rankings etc)

Should I build a landing page that links to the .com (but I lose pr)

Or is there another way?

Cheers

Danny

Redirect the .com to the .co.uk instead.

    I cant do that really.

The reason being is that the forum has gained a lot of media attention and companies are climbing over each other to not only advertise but I have had a lot of offers to buy the forum but a few have said that they would prefer it on a .com

I not saying I am going sell but the last off I had was for an obscene amoun t of money.... so hopefully the switch from smf to vb and the move to .com will increase its value in a few months.

Map the .com domain to the .co.uk (not the same as redirection). Your host can do this for you, or you may be able to set it up yourself, depending on the CPanel/WHCM you have on your account.

Why not promote it in your forum where you have lots of traffic.
